Hi, I am planning to buy a second hand car, wanted to know what all things need to be taken care of, like what all documents should be checked? How can I confirm there are no previous accidents involving the vehicle and all traffic fines are already paid. And what will be the procedure to transfer the vehicle in my name? And yes, I will need bank loan also, so what are conditions for that? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can verify the car history & condition by doing the following steps:

1) Checking accident record on bahrain.bh under traffic services
2) Getting an agency report i.e. if is a Jeep or Dodge, you have Behbehani inspect it and issue full report.  This costs money but gives you peace of mind that you know the car inside out

For transfer, both of you i.e. buyer and seller, will go to the traffic directorate with:

Required Documents

1. Ownership transfer Form completed and signed by both parties
2. The vehicle’s inspection and registration certificate
3. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration in the new owners name
4. Valid CPR identity card of the owner or, in case the vehicle is owned by a company, a copy of the commercial registration license (CR Copy)
5. No claim letter (release letter) from the car dealer or the concerned bank if the vehicle is registered jointly with finance payments
6. The necessary vehicle ownership transfer fees

Don't worry about fines; these have to be settled at the time of transfer otherwise it will not go through and it is the seller's responsibility.  Also, if you are getting it from a dealer, he will take care of all the transfer procedures and you don't have to go or do anything.

Hi,

May I know if a GCC Resident (Saudi) can buy a car in Bahrain, if he only has CPR?  Or is CPR and Bahraini Resident Permit the same?  His employer is in Saudi and He has a residence in Bahrain.  Thanks in advance for the reply/ies.

Confusing question.

Does he have a cpr "card" as in physical card, or not?

He can only get that if he has a residence visa in Bahrain. If that is the case then yes.

Flouer

He has Paper Cpr only

With a paper cpr and no Bahrain driving license, they may not allow it.  If he was a gcc citizen, no issue. Only expats have problems.
