Healthcare for Jordanian Citizens Visiting the United States

Hello,
I wanted to understand how healthcare works for Jordanian citizens that are living abroad.

My father-in-law came to visit his son (my husband) and me in the USA for the past 4 months.  In Jordan, since he is retired from working with the government, he receives free health care. My father-in-law did not buy international health insurance before coming or while living in the US.  My father-in-law had a heart attack two weeks ago and has been in the hospital. He now has a $20,000 hospital bill here in the US.  Can the Jordanian embassy help with this issue? Since he does get free healthcare in Jordan would they be willing to pay a portion of the bill?

Thank you for any advice.

You should ask the insurance company who provide the free health care.

Hi,
since your father in law is a government retiree, his health care insurance belong to the ministry of health, and in this case the ministry will not cover an abroad patient unless he is on an official assignment or a letter from the ministry of foreign affairs provided to the hospital in USA claiming the coverage of his recovery.
