Skilled migrants in Adelaide

Post new topic

deepak1972

Hi,

The encourages skilled migrants to live and work in SA . Are there enough opportunities for skilled migrants ? I have been trying very hard to secure a job in Australia as a Civil Engineer but recruiters and employers aren't willing to consider my resume stating that I do not have local experience .

I am an Indian and would like to relocate to Adelaide , I am a PR of Australia and certified to work as a P.E. Civil ,  but not sure if employment opportunities really do exist .

Could any one give me more advise on what the facts are ?

Thanks !!

Christine

It is very difficult to secure a job while offshore. In Adelaide, it is all about "who you know." My husband and I migrated a little over 2 years ago. My husband is very shy and it took him 6 months to land an engineering job. I'm outgoing, so I secured a job within 3 weeks. Both of us are professionals.

There is a very strong Indian network here - primarily from Punjab. I've spoken with many people from India and they have been very positive about their move. If you have money saved up, it is worthwhile to make the move but plan on being very social so that you can build the kind of networks that are needed to succeed here.

Good luck.
