The heat saps my inspiration to write anything sensible. I have been blogging since May 2004 when I was on a post-doctoral fellowship and had a little spare time on my hands.  I was introduced to the blog-o-verse by a good friend who moved back home from Waffleland (my nickname for Belgium) to Canada. His blog is worth reading, although he cannot update regularly at the moment (). I am a civil servant (permanent contract) at one of the EU institutions (sorry, no more details divulged, I don't want to be added to the casualty list of persecuted, former employees punished for publishing their thoughts online).
I belong to that peripatetic nation of the Scots and have lived abroad on and off for many years, in Waffleland since 1991. Prior to that I resided in Denmark (for research purposes) and Germany.  Feel free to respond to me in German, Danish, Dutch, Swedish or Hungarian (my French is wobblier than your average jelly, I'm afraid, although I can get by in it).
I am female, about to turn 40 in August and really if your curiosity has been stirred why not pay a visit to Redemption Blues.
I discovered the Expat site through another blog I read regularly, Jo in Japan () another gem.

Welcome Chameleon on the forum!

I hope you'll find interesting things here ;)

I was about to forget ... you are the 200th member!

Thank you Julien! 200th? Sounds good, an appealing round number.
I am convinced that I will find a lot of excellent reading matter in other members' blogs, though I admit I am usually too tired to participate much in Forums once I finally arrive home in the evenings (my spare energy basically reserved for blog updates).
