Shopping for household items in Las Terrenas

Post new topic

tracy.england

Good evening all,

We are into our 2nd week living in Las Terrenas.  The completion of our apartment has been delayed, and while we are a bit disappointed we are spending this time to walk about town, meet some of our new neighbors and locate the hardware store, hair salons, and favorite restaurants.  What we have not located yet, is a place to buy bed and bathroom linens.

We have seen the occasional beach towels and random sheet sets in some of the local stores but nothing of reasonable quality.

We know that we will most likely have to go into Santo Domingo, and am wondering if anyone has suggestions on stores either in SD or elsewhere that carries a reasonably decent selection of nicer bed linens and bath towels.

Also any other suggestions for favorite department or even Walmart type stores that carry small appliances, etc would be greatly appreciated.

We are not opposed to ordering online but anything that can be purchase in the DR and supports the economy is preferred.

Thanks much in advance.

online shopping for the linens, towels etc here with delivery as above post.

For small electrical appliances Plaza Lama is a good option and again they are online and deliver everywhere from their stores around the country:

Thank you exservdr and lennoxnev for your responses.  I have looked all the stores up online and have a great idea of where we need to start our shopping.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

You can get to Ikea, which has a lot of quality items at fairly reasonable prices. Next to Ikea are several other large stores where you can find perhaps some better quality than what you see here in LT. Be aware that getting from here (LT) to there will be a rough traffic encounter, even on the freeways, although the motorcycles, aren't seen as much.

We have lived in LT for six months a year for the past 3 years.

You can try De Leon for small appliances and also towels and linens.
