British or American International school

Post new topic

Hello we are italian and we are going to move ti Malesia in july for at least 2 years. We would Like to receive suggestion about British/American International school. Our son is 4. What is the best one? We probably Will live in mont Kiara. Thank you

Garden International School is popular and right in MK. So also is MK international school. Both good and popular schools but expensive so base your search on your preferred budget There are plenty of choices for British curriculum but do expect most pupils to be local Malaysians

If you haven't visited MK then it is important to see whether you like the environment there. Make sure you live close to your partners workplace as that is more important.

My personal thoughts are some of the schools are large and potentially overwhelming for a 4 year old. Language of tuition will be English so some skills will be expected. An interview is conducted. Check waiting lists for class level required as an initial step. There are other options apart from international schools.

Hi, you've got a ton of good options - like Gravitas suggested, starting with your budget is probably a good option. At your child's age, you've got the choice of joining a stand-alone kindergarten (like The Children's House) at around 18k-20k a year, or joining an international school in the area (GIS, MKIS and ISP are all close by) for around triple that price.  International schools here are expensive because they hire expat teachers - the cheaper kindergartens hire mostly Malaysian teachers at a fraction of the cost.

With a young child I would also consider Desa Park over Mont Kiara, in terms of liveablity, safety & greenery! MK's traffic is really bad now and it's become a real concrete jungle over the last few years - not very walkable, no parks, etc.

Anyway, you might find this map helpful!

Let me know if you'd like some further guidance via PM. Best of luck!

Thank you so much. We are looking for the most popular as mkis gis and bskl because local collegues suggested to us to be the best but when we Will come surely we Can get more info. Just a further help to understand. Bskl School seems not in expat living area ad mont Kiara. Where do you suggest to live if we choose bskl?

Gravitas

There are some good condos very near bskl (one has a 9 hole golf course) or people still live in mk or around Tropicana. There are school buses as well. Mont Kiara is a concrete jungle with terrible traffic
