Committing to renting or buying accommodation when you聮re new to or have not moved to Tanzania just yet is always a stressful endeavour. Would you like to help us in putting together a handbook of what to look out for when house hunting in Tanzania?

Avoiding scams can be tricky. First of all, you have to recognise the scam itself. This is not so easy because most scammers will have perfected the con.

There is hope. Directory.co.tz is an online service that verifies and lists licensed businesses in Tanzania. You can search for products and services by typing short common keywords that are relevant to your needs. Example:
3 bedroom apartment for rent
House for rent in Masaki
Dental implants
English medium school
Learn French
Kilimanjaro climb

The aim of Directory.co.tz is to minimize risks posed by scammers by ensuring only authentic businesses are listed. Many of the listed companies are in Dar but the service will soon be expanding to other regions.
