There are lots of potential suppliers; this will take you to one website that has some recommendations - I don't particularly recommend any of them (because I haven't personally tried them myself).

I used one once while I was on holiday a few years ago so my wife could watch something on UK TV she didn't want to miss.  The VPN worked fine; the thing that spoiled it all was the quality of the internet connection where I was on holiday; hotel wifi is not the best for streaming video content.

I read that nowadays, the BBC can spot you are not in the UK even through a firewall.

If you're considering using your phone data connection, watch out for humongous bills when you get back; while you can use your UK package in other EU countries, video streaming quickly eats up your data allowance.  You'll need at least a 4G connection to get consistently decent video streaming, not all countries have it everywhere.
