Italian wants to move and work in Bali

Post new topic

Jessica Rastelli

Hi everybody, I’m Jessica from Italy and living in Melbourne - Australia for 7 years.
I am planning to move to Bali and trying to find a job in the Hospitality Management field.
I have 10 years experience of which 5 are in Management.
I’ve got Diploma in Hospitality Management and Advanced Diploma in Leadership Management both 2 years and half course done in Melbourne.
I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THE INDONESIAN LAWS REGARDING VISAS, WORKING PERMITS (none without a sponsor basically).
I have applied for looooots of applications on line to restaurants and hotels.
1) Do u guys know how long does it usually takes to get an answer back?
2) And also, do u guys believe I should wait to get an answer from Bali first and then book a flight and go OR
3) it can be easier to go there and find it in person through contacts?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELPðŸ™ðŸ¼ðŸ‡¦ðŸ‡ºðŸ‡®ðŸ‡¹

Dear jessica,
1.Depend on the company around 1 week - 1 month
2.For International company u should wait, but for indonesian company u better go to Bali, coz usually they just do onsite interview not by online (skype)
3.Yes it can be easier, if u have the right contacts :). My sister have some foreigner/expat friends who work as wedding planner coz my sister work at wedding photography business.
Hope it helps and Good luck to find ur dream job

Very simply put, on an employment basis, if the company hiring you cannot, or will not provide a KITAS visa, and more importantly, an IMTA (work permit), a foreigner cannot work here in Indonesia…period.

Bali, in particular, is the most difficult of all the 34 regencies in Indonesia for a foreigner to find legal work in the hospitality industry.  The reason is simple…there are plenty of highly qualified Indonesians.

There are no legal ways around this simple fact…so, word to the wise when reading offers to help you to find shortcuts.

These days…on an employment basis, the only entities likely for you to find legal work in Bali in the hospitality industry are via large 5 star international resorts, and those jobs are normally limited to GM, Assistant GM, and Executive Chef.

Keep in mind…when caught working illegally in Bali…it is YOU who will pay the price, and suffer the consequences.
