I go to Vietnam many times a month even for a few days, I’ve seen the Saigon to pp and back bring people to and from Bavet, I would go to the Mekong express station at ordessy, or riverside office, and yes it’s done , I’m sure the other bus companies that travel to Saigon would offer this, as on the Mekong Express bus I ride people get off and on frequently along the way

Oh...interesting... So, once I'm at Bavet, I have the options of taking a 15-dollar van to Phnom Penh or paying 12 dollars for bus heading to Phnom Penh ?

Yeah, I seen that link... but all those tickets say Phnom Penh as departure and Bavet as arrival....  I'm looking for the other way around.... It would make sense that the same bus would make a return trip, but I can't really find any proof of it. And the bookmebus link does not seem to include Bavet as a departure option.
