Social Security Registration

Post new topic

Hi there,

we've recently moved to Cyprus and overall are very happy to be here. As in any other country, we need to sort out formalities. My partner is self-employed and I am currently not working, we are not pensioners (still a long way to go). At the Alien & Immigration office we were told to get a Social Security Registration for our appointment for the yellow slip (we all have UK passports). I've done some research and it's clear to me that my husband needs to register asap. Is my understanding correct?  Does anybody here have any experience with that? I've read somewhere that all forms are in Greek? Also, if my husband's income is less than EUR19,500, do we still need to register for the Social Security Number?

Thank you!

Toon

Everyone needs to register for immigration, income tax (including an annual online income tax return (via taxisnet) irrespective of income level, even those with no income ie a zero tax return need to do so... ....and also social security if you are not pensioned
Once your hubby has been registered as self employed and can prove income his social security/contributions payments will cover yourself and any children for healthcare

you will need to go to the immigration office with your passports to get an appointment for the yellow slip they will then give you a date and allocated time slot plus a list of things you must provide.. assuming all is OK then you will walk out with the yellow slips...

so go to the social security office and the tax office to get yourselves registered at both....  you will need the Tax Identification Number (TIN) to register with the taxisnet online tax returns services

Thank you Toon, I was hoping you’ll respond to me.
We’ve got the appointment already, which will be in four weeks. The question was about the process of getting registered at the Social Security. It seems like the forms are all in Greek, unfortunately we don’t speak Greek yet. What is you experience with that? How quickly can we get it done? I’m not worried but need to make sure we get all the paperwork on time for our appointment.

Thank you!

Ok  The Social security Office may well be able to help you with completing the form .. if not maybe you can download the form or get it then go to the Citizens Service Centre and they will help you , they are very helpful and efficient... they might even be able to do all you need to do.

you dont need an appointment for the CSC just turn up go to the desk tell them what you wish to do and they will give you a number wait your turn then take it from there

as for documentation take everything you think you might need.. best to "have it and not need it than to need it and not have it"   it works well here...
