Carpooling in Qatar

Post new topic

Hello everyone,

In order to move around in Qatar, you will have to spend time on the road; for your work commute, to drop your children off at school or for everyday trips. Carpooling could be the right option for you. We would like to know your views on carpooling as a means of transport, and whether it is a practical and cost-effective option.

Is carpooling and cost-sharing common practice in Qatar? What about the regulations in force?

For which types of journey does carpooling seem more suitable in Qatar? How much is the cost of a carpool trip?

Is there an app or other means available to connect people looking to carpool? How do you find other carpoolers?

If you are carpooling in Qatar, what precautions should you take to travel safely?

According to you, what are the advantages and disadvantages of carpooling?

Thank you for sharing your experience,
Diksha

Received this thread alert by email , not sure are you resident in Qatar,

From my point of view , car pooling is not famous/ here never heard as most of people prefer their privacy and convenience but there's Uber and Careem  (App available) that could be compatible , which the cost is acceptable, and often has Promotion that will save more cost.

Before Uber genre, there's monthly-private taxi that you will agree with driver to come & pick and drop you daily from door to your work. But after Uber happens in this world, and in Qatar, it become selective option as the cost per trip could be saver e.g. 8 QR (promo).

Doha now has Metro that's convenient and save cost (2 QR per trip regardless distance), you can travel from East to West of country just 2 QR with free shuttle bus roaming in 3-5 km around the district.

There's Karwa App that will show Live move of the bus & shuttle bus. And for business area , there's free shuttle service (Van)  provided by Qatar Metro - using same Karwa App.
