Are you already in Ecuador under a temporary visa or are you outside Ecuador determining which visa status to apply for.   If you are in U.S you could do an investor visa.  Are you currently retired or a pensioner?

No I am currently a college student in the US. I’m just looking at my options and gathering as much information as I can before I graduate

So I’d be determining which visa I’d need to apply for. My apologies for the confusion!

Historically, Ecuador has offered a long-term or permanent visa to graduates of many colleges/universities when the name of the school is on a master education list.

If the school is not on the list, a visa may still be possible .. although the process is not as simple.

Visas have also been available for persons studying a subject at an accredited school in Ecuador.

For instance, if a student from the USA was studying Spanish for up to a year.
