British passport problems

Post new topic

Has anyone had to renew their British passport whilst living in Egypt?
I renewed mine 10 years ago, it was sent to Paris?? Then returned to British Embassy in 2 weeks.
Obviously with covid it's a problem.
Renewed mine on 1 October, was told by UK passport office it had been printed on 15 December 2020.
After a great deal of difficulty I have discovered it has been sent to TLS in Agouza. This office has no email and does not answer the phone. They have had my passport for 3 weeks and still no contact.

I read of one person still waiting for them to contact her 5 months after courier delivered it to TLS.

Passport office UK and Embassy are not interested.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I've never had a problem with TLS and they usually call as soon as it arrives. If you're certain that it is there just go to the office and they will give it to you. They have no actions other than to hand it over to you.

You can go directly, I did that once before 5 years ago.
It will be good to check with DHL by checking your family name and TLS address if they accept helping you out with that.

Thank you for replying. I am just a little concerned they may have restrictions about turning up at the office due to Covid.
DHL has confirmed the address which was 11B not 9 as on the webpage. Maybe this is the same building??

Great go but dont tell them at the door that u didnt get a call.
Go with confidence that ur passport is there.

Just to let you know the UK MP emailed me today, she has been told there has been a problem with the phone number I gave. Totally untrue of course.

Surprise, surprise they emailed me this afternoon informing me my passport is ready for collection.
I have posted the email address on the forum for anyone else to use.

Hello. How do you renew your passport while still living in Egypt? This would be good to know in case hubby cant get back to uk because of covid. Thanks

Marymansoura

You will have to print off a renewal form and send it with your old passport to the Durham passport office. If you do not know anyone British who is s Dr, lawyer, teacher etc, you can send your photos unsigned. Just write an explanation
I was told as long as you are still recognizable from the old passport photo!
You aren't given an application number.
Send it by DHL for safety and certain it will arrive.
Mine took 4 months.
It depends where you live in Egypt as to where it is returned to.
Don't bother asking the Embassy, even the passport office couldn't tell me!!
Good luck!!

Shellybelly

Thanks
