Class-K Permit 2021

Post new topic

Seisei

Hello, has anyone here recently obtained a Class-K Permit?

I have the following questions, and would be very grateful to you if you can share from your own direct experience.

1) Have you applied for the Class-K on your own, or through an agent?

2) How long did the process take you from submission to approval?

3) Was there anything noteworthy in the process, or anything that you recommend one should do or avoid?

Thank you

Answers:

1) yes through an agency

2) about 4-6 weeks

3) Get a lawyer as they can speed up the process, especially at the stage where the application is vetted by immigration officers and the National Intelligence Service

Hello,
I've looked through all the posts on this topic, and still had a couple of questions:

- Can the class K permit be used if you have a guaranteed salary from mobile work, with the funds being remitted to Kenya from outside the country? Ie, if my employer is willing to sign a contract or a confirmation letter saying that they are employing me for 1 year, at a certain salary (that is higher than the annual $24K required for the class K permit) and that they are ok with me being located anywhere in the world, is that ok?

- Can anyone recommend an immigration lawyer to help my spouse and I through the process?

many thanks

paigerice

do you have any suggestions for a Lawyer to help with the K permit?
thank you

Hi.did you get help?

I have been trying (without success thus far) to find out what exactly a Class K permit holder 'receives' once his application is approved.

- Do you get a visa stamp in your passport?

- Do you get a Kenyan ID? If yes, (broadly) how does it look like? Is there any sample photo of a Class K ID on the internet? Does it have an expiry date printed on it?

And when you enter Kenya, do you still get an entry stamp in your passport?

Hi.
Once approved you get an invoice.
The payment depends on the duration you added to your application.
Say two years. you pay the Kshs 200,000.
Then you upload the processing documents viz.
- Approval.
- Proof of payment.
- Security Bond etc.
Your permit is then processed and you can print out your e-Permit,
Once permit is issued you can then take your Passport for endorsement and apply for an alien certificate.

@bizbkenya: Thank you for the guidance!

What do you mean by "endorsement"? They will print a residence permit sticker into the passport?

Are you sure Class K permit holders need/get an alien certificate? I understand the alien certificate contains a fingerprint.

Somebody (who also deals with permits) told me Class K permit holders receive a different type of ID that does not contain a fingerprint. That's why I have been trying to find a pic of a sample Class K ID

@Dragonbaygroup888 Hi
By endorsement i mean, you deliver your passport and copy of your Permit to immigration and they endorse or stamp the permit details onto your passport. (LIKE A visa stamp)
All permit holders need an alien certificate. To process your PIN, and it is safer to walk around with rather than walk around with your passport and permit.
To the best of my knowledge. all alien certificates ( alien cards) are the same,

@Bizbenkya: Thank you for clarifying!

Have you ever seen a Class K permit visa endorsement sticker in a passport by any chance? I can't find any sample online, and the person I deal with says there won't be anything in the passport. Just a permit in ID card format (without fingerprint). The Alien ID (always with fingerprint) can be processed afterwards but supposedly is optional for Class K permit holders...
