Maybe we can schedule it for sunday afternoon coffee?

Okay, so no response but I did get a message from another expat here in town, Doug, and we'll be meeting on Sunday at 1pm at Cafe Quindio in Parque Sucre.  He is also passing the word around to the others he knows.

This afternoon 3 of us expats met for coffee, as well as two of us brought our girlfriends. The five of us had coffee and stuff at Cafe Quindio then when the rain started we moved indoors at another coffee shop nearby (Cafe Quindio would not permit more than 3 people at a table indoors, the other coffee shop did). It was a good time of chatting and the two women had a nice time getting to know each other for the first time.

We'll do it again in the not too distant future.

I have not found many other english speaking expats in Manizales.  I suspect they are here, but I haven’t encountered them yet...maybe Covid is a contributing factor

I think we will be arranging another meetup next month sometime.

I check the forums on three different expat sites and they are all very low volume forums, maybe particularly Colombia, or not, I don't read the other countries' forums.

One other site shows a members list and can be searched by country and city and supposedly there are over 100 expats here in Armenia, but that simply isn't true. I've even sent messages to everyone of them on that site and I've received, ready, count them, zero responses.

Here in Armenia there are 3 other expats and myself that have met, and I've met one other once out on a street, once. I didn't get his name or number though, he didn't seem to be all that friendly.

When we decide to do another meetup we'll post it on this forum, as well as on the other two expat sites' forums.

There may be confusion about what Marquez is looking for, which is apparently a meetup in Manizales, not Armenia.

Manizales is 2 hours 22 minutes by car from Armenia, well past Pereira.

Is Marquez willing to drive almost five hours round-trip to attend a meeting of several Expats in Armenia?

In past years I have seen evidence of monthly (or more frequent) Expat meetups in Pereira, coordinated on the Facebook page for Pereira Expats.

This may be of interest to Expats living or visiting in Pereira .. Expats in Manizales who consider Pereira as far as they would go for a meetup .. or even Armenia/Quindío Expats.

Pereira is much larger than Armenia, which apparently accounts for why Expat meetups in Pereira have historically been better-attended and more frequent.

This post is an FYI for expat.com members and is not intended to undermine any efforts to hold meetups in Armenia.

Meetup: April 10, 11am, Parque Sucre at Cafe Quindio

In our past meetups we've had 4 expats and a couple of their girlfriends also came to the last meetup.

I hope to see even more at this coming meetup. Everyone from the Cafetera region is welcome.

(I chose 11am so we can have a reasonable amount of time before the afternoon rain starts.)

Early today we had an expats meetup here in Armenia. Doug and I were the only ones there this time. Maybe next time we'll have a few more.

I am going to Pereira this week and will be there for a month, maybe I could see you guys there.

I'm moving to Cartago next week, I'd be glad to meet up with you, just post a message here in this forum for a general expats meet up in May.
