hello to all you guys, i need some advice from you ,i got an job offer in al khobar as a waiter with 3000 sar monthly with benefits ,such as accomodation, medical insurance,ticket flist ,visa costs ect,im a waiter with more then 8 years of exerience,is that ok in khobar,you can find better,to me sems a little bit low to be honest,thank you in advance

Hi Dejan. Khobar is one of the good place of saudi arabia. i lived there for 3 years. Its a high class city. Consider the Covid situation, your Salary seem good because so many restaurants are already shutdown & there is a job scarcity world over in this arena as well. so GO grab it and enjoy Khobar.

I'm curious to know. I read that it is expected to tip between 10-15%, unless there is a service charge. I think if you're serving Saudis and Western expats, they would generally tip. In Canada, I heard that Asians are less likely to tip, even if it is customary. With the fairly recent increase in VAT in Saudi, I think it's fair to say that if tipping and service charge are not mandatory, then Asians will probably hold on to their money a bit more, because they're generally also paid less than Westerns.

3000 could be high or low depends on what level of restaurant you will work.

Do the math... if 2 people are dining, based on your menu prices, what is their total bill? Then assume 10-15% tips.

It's  tricky though... because you must guesstimate how many clients are dining out these days with the pandemic. Then assume ALL of your clients will tip,  because at this time, only those who have higher paying jobs can afford fine dining, so that writes off most Asians. Not being racist, just being factual.
