Moving UK appliances to Italy

Post new topic

Lentini74

Hi I was looking for some advice on the practicality and cost of moving UK appliances to Italy.  I have TVs and washing machine and dryer I would like to move from London as they are fairly new.  Can the plugs be adapted safely by an electrician or is there a better way or perhaps not recommended.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can change UK plugs for the kind used on the continent; you can do it yourself with basic DIY skills; this will take you to a YouTube video on how to do it.

Washing machine and dryer no problem, easy adaptors or DIY or loads of  local stores will change plugs and not ask much. TV no the system is different. Better not best O

Sorry Olaf don't understand the point about the TV ?  I should not bring that over with me ?

Terrestrial TV reception is different between the UK and Mainland Europe, so if you plug a conventional TV aerial in the back of a UK TV, but now using it on the mainland, you get the picture, but no sound.  The reason is they split the video and audio signal when they transmit, the UK uses a different frequency to the rest of mainland Europe.

That said, most modern TV's will work with both systems (mine doesn't, my daughters does) and many now get their signal via the internet through a box receiver; the best advice is to check your TV handbook, or contact the manufacturer and ask.
