Can anyone tell me what airlines are flying into Vietnam
devarj57 wrote:Can anyone tell me what airlines are flying into Vietnam
It's been mentioned in a number of threads but there are no direct flights coming in here for anyone who isn't qualified to be here.
Meaning, if you're not a Vietnamese citizen returning home or an investor or a diplomat or an expert with a pre-arranged Visa it's simply not happening.
I look forward to the day when someone can correct me and tell me that my information is not up to date

Stop and think about this. All flights are direct from somewhere. You may mean there are no direct flights from Europe, or AU, or NZ, but all flights come from someplace, even if that means other places in Asia.
From April., Vietnam airlines and Vietjet has resumed regular international flights to major hubs including Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul and Taipei. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok are scheduled to depart every Friday, and the service from Hanoi to Seoul (Incheon International Airport) is scheduled to depart from April 15th. ( You can see more info on google )

No, I mean exactly what I wrote (but you selectively edited):
If a person is not pre-qualified to fly into Vietnam at this time under one of the exceptional categories, there are no flights (direct or connecting) available for them.
Especially on point for the OP, as he has previously discussed wanting to come here, but his posts indicate fairly clearly that he is not currently authorized to enter Vietnam.

That is not on point, in response to the question by the OP.
Respectfully, your reply will tend to confuse the issue for the average reader.
That's a list of flights that are departing Vietnam, and are available to anyone of any nationality to leave Vietnam; if the flights are not eventually cancelled (as so many flights have been cancelled over the past year).
However, unless someone has special status to enter Vietnam at this time, if they depart on one of those lights they will not be allowed to return to Vietnam.
That's why so many of us here are continuing to get Visa extensions in country, because we cannot do border runs.
Unless the OP has special status, he will not be able to use one of those returning flights to enter Vietnam at this time
I have all the required documents. My Cathay Pacific flight was cancelled. Korean Air told me thay are not flying into Vietnam. I tried Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines from Bangkok but get no results when I search flights. I'm simply asking anyone who flew into Vietnam recantly, what airling did you use?

I recently read a post in this forum that a Gentleman flew in via Doha on Qatar Airways. However, he came in on the "expert/relocation" category.

So my friend Mr OB, we really didn't need all that song and dance about eligibility to enter, did we? The OP simply wanted to know exactly what he asked for in the first post.

Such a shame.
Who knew they don't sell reading glasses in Hawaii?
@OP: are you trying to sneak in to Vietnam without the requisite paperwork? Naughty naughty.
I am flabbergasted that nobody seems able to take the OP at his word.
First he asked a simple direct question. What he got in return was a scolding about being ignorant of the governmental regulations concerning entry.Â
Later when he clearly stated that he had all required documents, he was told that he was "trying to sneak in."
Read the OP's bio and tell me that you still don't think he is likely eligible for entry as an "expert." He is clearly not some backpacker or "digital nomad" wanting to look around Vietnam to see what's up. Even if he was not eligible, that is not a good reason to refuse to answer the original question which was about which airlines, no more no less. If he locates a flight and tries to book it, he will surely be screened for eligibility  Of all the so-called experts coming in now, I expect the great majority arrive on airplanes. So why get your pants in a bunch? What's with you people?
My post should have had a  to be honest to indicate sarcasm.

I kind of suspected that. My apologies to you but not to the other party who was so critical of the OP.

This is so deliciously ironic:
It is you, THIGV, who is a master at the redirecting of a thread by often pursuing a tangent of thought not directly and simply in response to an initial statement or inquiry.
Often your efforts are very helpful in encouraging critical thinking about seemingly simplistic subjects.
At other times you simply go off-topic and become quite defensive when anyone attempts to encourage you to follow the forum rules.
Unfortunately, you rarely if ever acknowledge the greater purpose of this website in considering the overall goals of the owners or the impact of any individual post on the casual reader who happens upon one of these threads.
Like it or not, the titles of threads often lend themselves to broader responses than the initial post seems to require.
Again, you are often quite adept at encouraging a complex consideration of seemingly facile topics.
Perhaps because you are not currently here in Vietnam, you don't appreciate how important it is for people to be fully informed on the subject of obtaining a flight to Vietnam before they begin the process of attempting to relocate here.
Since the OP did not qualify his request in any way to begin with, my reply to him was totally appropriate.
Besides, from all information that's been posted by others on this subject, it seems that no one is gaining entry to Vietnam simply because they have the right documentation.
Every post I've read on the subject so far indicates that the assistance of a sponsor or an employment agent has been necessary to secure a reservation on flights which do not show up in public search results.
As I said before I'm happy to have my information be corrected.
THIGV wrote:sanooku wrote:My post should have had a  to be honest to indicate sarcasm.

That appears to be a deliberate mischaracterization of my reply.
At no point did I directly criticize the OP.
I simply pointed out information which might not have been considered yet.
This would not be the first time that you have taken offense on behalf of someone else, only to discover later that the person was not offended at all.
I trust that the good Colonel can speak up for himself and express his displeasure without you needing to preemptively rush to his defense.
this makes good reading
Personally, I think this recent thread (in which the OP participated) makes great on-topic reading:

@OP: check flight arrivals at SGN airport:
you will see International arrivals.
Quick browse through led me to see that there is a flight (TH4163) from KUL arriving at 20:00 today.
Use skyscanner to see flights from USA airport to KUL. I checked New york (I don't know which state you are in. so picked one) to KUL and there is a flight to KUL with 1 stop in NRT Tokyo Narita.
Edit: raya airways is a cargo airline apparently. Check the other flights. One from Japan. One from s.korea. hopefully they are not cargo too. LOL

Again, not especially helpful information unless one knows how to use it, as detailed in this post by someone who has entered the country recently (from the previously referenced thread):

Yes, the flights are not on the websites of the companies. They have to verify all your paperwork before booking, and only the offices in Vietnam can do that. So, to book a flight with Singapore Airlines, Qatar, etc., you must contact the office in Saigon or Hanoi to know the schedules, prices, and to book.
Saigon:
Singapore Airlines:Â SGNSQ_Reservation@singaporeair.com.sg
Emirates: ekvietnam@emirates.com
Qatar: Sgnreservations@vn.qatarairways.com
Based on all of the posts from the OP's timeline, it seems a very educated guess that he is not making flight reservations through the Vietnam offices of airlines (where the airline would confirm all of his proper documentation)

O! we thank thy highness for thy superior opinion.
Op asked what airlines are flying in to Vietnam. I provided him a method to attain his goal.
He has already said he has the requisite documents. I see no point in playing the same tune on the same violin over and over.
Once he's aware which airlines are arriving here, he will contact them and inquire how to go about booking a ticket (where he'll be told that flight reservations can only be made through only the Vietnam offices where the documents can be checked).
If we are to focus on requirements other just the airlines, how come we are not talking about the quarantine requirement. How come the focus is just on documentation?

It is precisely because my wife and I are in Honolulu that I have concerns about rules for travel to Vietnam. In all likelihood we would have taken at least one trip 30 days or more during 2020, if not for the virus. In addition, we face the threat of having to make an emergency trip, if we can at all, based on my mother-in-law's health. Please don't assume that you know what I "appreciate" and about what I wish to be "fully informed."

Thanks for reminding me of your circumstances.
I hadn't really forgotten the trials facing you and your family during these trying times, but I honestly didn't see a connection between your situation and your objections to my posts, until now.
As I mentioned already, this isn't the first time you've assumed offense on behalf of a third party.
Now I can see now how, in spite of my intent, you might have chosen to take personal umbrage at my initial reply to The Colonel.
I didn't mean to sound deprecating or dismissive in my reply to The Colonel, and I do have great empathy for you and others in similar circumstances.
Let's hope for the sake of many that restrictions are lifted soon.
I know a Vietnamese couple (VN citizens) who got stuck in New Zealand and have been in touch with the VN embassy (not the airlines) while waiting for a charter flight (not commercial) for many months. They were recently informed they will be able to fly back to VN via Australia to a military airport several hours outside of HCMC, after which they will undergo quarantine for 2 weeks at a nearby facility.
On this thread:
/forum/viewtopic.php?id=927204
the OP, who recently was allowed to enter after being sponsored by a school, states:
The visa process takes longer because of covid and they will have to book a special flight for you because you cannot book a commercial flight from any carrier's website. All this takes extra time.
So, it would seem that OceanBeach's original response is accurate.
Thanks for all the responses. Now booked on Singapore Airlines. Direct flight from Los Angeles to Singapore. Then Singapore Airlines to HCMC. Thanks to David Tran Agency in Vietnam for all the work in getting this done. Arrive in HCMC on April 22nd.
Erikji is correct. That's how we booked the flight. It can be done via email correspondence with the suggested airlines.

Just as a matter of interest & for what its worth, I live within 1km as the crows fly in a direct line from the runway TSN & I can 100% state that there is a Qatar Air flight leaves TSN every morning at least 5 days a week & has done so for at least a month. So if it leaves it must come in....right!!
Also there has been an ANA daily flight leaving for the last 2 months since I moved here & again if it leaves on a daily basis it must come in on a daily basis.

Lots of rumors floating around these days, so first-person accounts are invaluable to many folks.
Godspeed!

I don't know who is coming in on it but there was only 15 or so of us that left on it a few weeks ago. It was the only flight on the international outbound international termal board that morning. We went to Tokyo on it. International termial was a ghost town.
SteinNebraska wrote:International termial was a ghost town.
It's still a ghost town yesterday. The digital boards outside of the tightly locked doors showed that *every* flight was cancelled except cargo flights. Screen after screen, same information: "cancelled" and "cargo". Nothing else.
For the 35 minutes between 1:55PM to 2:30PM, my great-great niece, my husband, and I were the only three people in the empty waiting area.
thanks everyone. currently on a 17 hour flight from usa to singapore (singapore airlines)
Then 2 hours to HCMC (signapore airlines).
