Hi everyone,

I am Hungarian citizen live in France right now. Just FYI, English is not my first language but I am try my best.
I am just explore options to live in Colombia for first short time. I have to go back France and again to Medellin. Till I am so sure that suits to me to live for good in Medellin.

I am cryptocurrency investor, beginner Digital Nomad, and many skills I have. Still have plenty time left to decide move to Medellin.

One thing is I am sure that I will find much more lower living standards in Colombia. Because I am deaf and been live in 6 countries until now. You know my feel always want/constantly change scene and travelling to learn new experience.

The reason is I want give try to live in Medellin because of I met women from there. She been explained to me everything but She didn't experience like I did in 6 different countries.

**So I am here for to see what available and idea to Minimum cost to live.
How and what situation are in Medellin in mid of pandemic of covid19. I know everywhere worsening but want to know there expats that live throughout this situation.

FYI I am not into money or make comfortable life. Just want being with woman I love.

May sounds stupid but still want to know what possible to live.

For now covid19 is real problematic for travel, so I just like to prepare well before everywhere says it is open and resume travel then I go to Colombia for short time stay.

Thank you for your time and help.

I have been trying to maneuver through the vaccine process.

It's not that I worry about side effects .. nor do I oppose on principle the vaccine process.

Changes beyond one's control have been slowing down my progress toward returning to Ecuador, as my appointment(s) have been canceled .. or apparently changed from Janssen to two-shot vaccine, adding five or six weeks to the process.

Unless moving to an area that has had decisive success against the virus, I lean toward an Expat being patient until the vaccine situation settles down before completing international travel, if waiting a bit more is feasible.

Crazy Ernie

I am an investor too (But not small one), and i almost did a mistake few year agoÌý (because i calculated with some money i didÌý not have ) .

From what i found as info , and i have been in Medellin before. Minimum should be 1000's dollars/ Per month. Because you can never live like a true local in a place like that.

But as investor size mattersÌý :DÌý (Are you small or big investor ).

What will you do when cryptocurrency crash?Ìý Ìý(value goes down by 90% ) . Have you taken profit ? Because you can notÌý count on something you don't have right now.

Do you have streams of incomes as a digital nomad?

You must have either enough money to live for the next 3-4 years right now . If you dont have that you might run out of money soon.

Also you need to think about visa. (you can only stay 6 month asÌý a tourist )
Well , you have to be real with yourself sir.

Good luck.

Dear Liber,

Welcome to the Colombia forums of ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ....

You seem to be misinformed about various issues.

You say you are sure you will encounter "much more lower living standards" in Colombia.

Sure, if you went to the favelas up the hillsides in Medellín you would find that.Ìý But that's not where Expats go.Ìý If you relocated to Poblado or Provenza sectors, you would find first-world living with world-class shopping, restaurants and beautiful buildings and landscaping.

Liber, you tell us you are considering Medellín because of the woman you met who explained "everything" to you.Ìý You say you are "not into money or make comfortable life.Ìý Just want being with woman I love."

Dude, this may be a great woman, I don't know.Ìý But as a hearing-impaired man potentially moving to a Spanish-speaking country who is not interested in money or providing her with a comfortable life, you don't seem to be setting yourself up for success.Ìý ÌýYour "preparation" should include reading up on the so-called "red pill" views, about male/female dynamics, that are available on the Internet and in 21st century books.

This is not for general issues, it is issues for me as accessible availability for Sign language user. Compare between France and Colombia. France is very high quality of accessible availability for me, for Colombia still in developing and on process to availability of accessible. Because I was sign language translator interpreter (forgein sign language to French/American Sign Language)
For me need constantly relies on sign language interpreter or accessible for run own business or everyday living.

Hopefully understand what I mean?

Have a great day.

Well, let me explain why I did say, I this, may you see me as weird.
I lived everything poorest, falavel, rich or homeless even. I came from very rich family, I have own decisions and experience it. My view is very different to see the world.

About women, I am not yet 100% decided, more preferably trying get her move here in France and would be our second home in Medellin for part time expat.

My personality is I can't stay one place too long time. Constantly move around. The women is same my personality. She will gladly move when I explain to her what difference between FR and CO.

I come here to see what available and everything.

Thank you for your time and help.

Do you keep track of how strong your U.S. dollar is against Colombia's currency, the Colombian peso?

As of Friday night (April 16, 2021), the dollar is valued at 3,602 pesos at xe.com, the respected website for international exchange rates.

Here is a chart showing the past ten years of the U.S. dollar versus the Colombian peso or COP...

While the dollar is down from a previous high by some 500 pesos (intraday March 2020), it is up during the decade by well over 2X, starting the period since 2011 at around 1,700 pesos to the USD.

This means that dollared purchasers in La República get more than twice as much for their money as they used to.

So the next time someone tells you that it's too expensive to buy a car in Colombia (perhaps compared to Ecuador), factor in what this chart is saying .. along with your other calculations .. to see if this is a good or bad time to buy.

Hi cccmedia,

Thank you for post, yes, I do keep track about COP value with Euro. I am more understanding with Euro than Dollars.

Currently 1 Euro exchange around 4300 COP. May after pandemic will less than 4000 Pesos. If Colombia is on recovery economy. I know this will takes a looong time to recovery. Similar crisis in Hungarian economy in between 1990-2010.

I am still researching, how about the bureaucracy in Colombia.

I have a ton ideas to do in Colombia.

Anyone can advice what good investment in Colombia. I like grow some coffee, because there ground is good. Or something different. I like explore around.

Just need find out what more sensible and good investment so I can't depend only nomad and cryptocurrency. Good to have 3rd income.

Last, I been figuring about real estate in Medellin, how difference ratio between own home or renting?

Thank you for your time and answer.
