Why is it mandatory for me to attest my degree from Saudi embassy?

Salam,
My company refused to transfer my iqama as a computer technician however i got membership as an allied engineering specialist from saudi council of engineers on my 4 year Bachelors in IT degree attested from ministry of foreign affairs. can anyone tell me what is the best way to get my degree attested from Saudi embassy and Saudi Culture as its financially cumbersome to go through agents.
