Hi there, we are a family of 4 from Canada and want to move to the Dominican Republic in the next 2 years, my question is how easy or hard is it to rent a house long term (we have 2 German Sheperds) with a fenced in yard and a pool?

That would depend on where you want to rent, but if you're flexible on the location I don't think you will have a problem. Talk with property management companies and check airbnb and some of the facebook pages like everythinglasterrenas, everythingsosua, etc.. The dogs may make it a bit harder but you should be able to find something.

Where would you like to live? I know many realtors that can help you and their fee is usually paid by the property owner.
