Gift suggestions for my new co-workers?

Post new topic

Merhaba,

I am starting my new job soon and would like to bring a gift to share with my co-workers. Since it will be Ramadan I am thinking twice about Chocolates (what do you think?)What else might you suggest I bring?

What is the custom in Turkey regarding gifts in a work situation?

Thanks :)

Well as long as it is not Ramadan yet then chocolates are fine if you want. I would say anything foreign and popular will be good. If you are going with chocolate than go with a well known American or other foreign chocolates. Even during Ramadan it should be fine if you wrap it nice and individually because if they are fasting they can take it home and eat it with their families while they break fast. :-)

Thanks Jehan, I was thinking about indidually wrapped chocolates too. What other foreign (American) products are hard to find/loved in Turkey?

Jehan143

WOW! A LOT! HAHAHA. I can not even count the amount of times I had something Turks wanted. Tooth paste, make up, deodorant, jewelry, clothes, watches, toys, sunglasses, purses, even cake mix! lol They love any quality or brand name foreign product. From my experience anyways. :-) I can't wait to go back next year!!

Yes they love any foreign-branded products.

I think chocolates are a good choice but they must be made in Switzerland or Germany .

Good thing I got a stop over in Germany. I prefer European chocolates too, but do our's suck that bad?:D

Btw, what do you guys think of Mexican candy as a gift? It would be almost impossible to find in Turkey and so awesome:)

Jehan143

Oh yeah Mexican anything is hard to find there. Good idea! :-)
