What area in Chiang Mai to live in?

Post new topic

Buddhamoon

Hello my family and I are about to move to Thailand in late September. We are looking at Chiang Mai, can anyone advise us on a good location. We will have to rely on public transport at first. Thanks

Hugh_Asia

it totally depends on your budget, and what kind of house/apartment your looking for...

but usually the best places to stay at as a resident without transportation should be around houy kyaw road... since its close to all conveniences you may require plus the easy access to transportation, all the other area's i have searched in are either too far or too crowded, houy kyaw road and the super high way as well are great locations...when i say the street names of course i mean the soy's in those 2 locations have a lot of hidden spot houses, and quiet area's, and the rent price are fir for locals....

please feel free to discuss on hugh@activeminority.com i can also provide you with contact details for a really good 'honest' agent to find the house your need with no hassle.

Congrats on moving to lovely Chiang Mai.... feel free to communicate anytime.

cheers

I'm interested to get an idea of the rent prices in the northen provinces for, let's say, a 3 bedroom house with modern amenities.

1. A blog I wrote about transportation in Chiang Mai, including public transportation.

2. I strongly suggest you scout out the city before putting down a deposit.

I think one of the best ways to do that, is to initially stay in a 'serviced apartment' where you can rent by 'day, week, or month'

And, I believe one of the BEST is the 'Viangbua Mansion'.

Living in Chiang Mai

There are differences for each area you can live. It is very convenient for transportation, shopping, medical services, book store I would rate for Changklan Area. It is also near the Ping River and the night market. However, it depends on your budget and needs.

@ FeeAcer, the cost is depends on location and facilities.

If I can be any helps, please feel free to let me know. I am helping expats and Thais to integrate to our society.
