Post new topic

Any update on status of lockdown. Rumours are that there could be a lock down. We are due to come for a holiday and was wondering if there was any factual news

infogreencycle

We can't know the future. But honstly situation is very bad here. Govt have been hiding death and real infection numbers. Delta variant is everywhere here and is killing people. Within 2 weeks more than 15,000 people got covid and hundreds of death. For a such a small population and small island, it is quite alarming. If you havn't book yet, i would advice you to got elsewhere. Plus everything is super expensive right now.

Ok thats good news, we are moving there end of dec. Starting a business there and kids start school in January. Would be a so bad for us if we cant get into country.

Hello dear.

Trust you are well. No dear, there will be no lockdown here. You may come and enjoy your Christmas holidays. However sanitary protocols must be respected, such wearing masks is obligatory.  You will be allow to beaches and other places as well.  Hope to see you soon here.

You don't know what the govt will decide to do after December 12/13th.
Thus one never knows !

Hi This feedback is so confusing because I am in contact with someone that lives in Mauritius and Rodrigues island ,I was told that the situation is very bad at the moment and yes many people are dying ,I am surprised that Lockdown has not started again ,I too will be going to Mauritius in March and truly hoping everything is going to be better .
Enjoy your stay ,be safe and careful

Hello everyone,

While the Govt is so unwilling to close borders and implement a new lockdown, part of the population and opposition party have been pressurizing the Govt to do so.

Rumours being what they are... for the time being borders are open and the Govt says they have no plans for lockdown. Response among the public is mitigated and sometimes very critical.

Cases are on the rise, deaths as well, but the Govt maintains that the situation is under control.

Here are the official figures from yesterday :

I don't have the total numbers of deaths but here are some figures for the past week
This week only : 85 deaths
Age group :
20 were aged less than 60 years old
65 deaths occurred among 60 years old + patients

Health status

16 patients didn't have any comorbidities or health related issues
69 had other health related issues

Vaccination status
36 were vaccinated
49 not vaccinated

For those who are coming in the very near future, make sure you have proper health insurance.
