Hi everyone. I'm a Canadian looking to move to Fukuoka with my wife, who is Japanese, and two small boys. We're choosing Fukuoka for a school for our kids and are looking to live in a rural area away from the main city. I have a couple decades of work experience in both government and in business, in Canada, Hong Kong, and Bahrain, and not sure what opportunities I might have for work in Japan. My Japanese is barely at a toddler's level and my 3 year old could probably handle a job interview in Japanese better than I can. I could look into starting a business, if that's even possible.

The other thing is I'm not sure how the Covid pandemic has affected social and networking opportunities in Japan. Is it difficult to make friends? In Canada it's affected everything, and social gatherings and restrictions are strict and enforced.

My husband and I just moved from the US.Ìý Feeling homesick and trying to find out if there are any groups or pages for coats to chat and meet up.

Hi everyone,

I am a French psychiatrist living and working in Tahiti (French Polynésia). Me and my wife, also psychiatrist herself, would like to move to Kyoto next year with our 2 y-o child.

I've started to study japanese language about one year ago here in Tahiti, and our plans are about move to Japan to learn a little bit more, in my case, and to start some zen bouddhists lessons in her case.

We'd like to stay at least one year. I'm looking for possibilities on working there, as psychiatrist first, maybe doing remote therapy, but also doing other jobs as traductions, counseling etc... I'm a Portuguese, English, French, Spanish and Italian speaker.

Thank you

@Julien Hi, my partner and I live in Australia but we love Japan, and particularly Kyoto, so we bought a small house in Kyoto earlier this year.Ìý We hope to be able to spend 3-6 months in Japan each year when work commitments permit.Ìý Very happy to be part of this forum as we don't speak Japanese but intend to learn when we get back to Kyoto.

Vladimir Flad

Hi everyone,

I moved to Tokyo with my wife just earlier this year after living for the past 25 years in Canada. I'm originally from Germany though. I love exploring the local sights, learn about Japanese culture, and eat lots of delicious food. But, unfortunately, my wife is working full time and can't always join me. Hence, I would love to meet others who love to do the same. I'm also planning to become a tour guide and am in the process of learning about all the amazing places around Tokyo. Mt. Takao is on top of the list of places to visit. Let me know if you'd like to spend a day going up there to explore and enjoy some awesome views and beautiful autumn colours. Weekdays only and the weather has to be good. :)

Cheers, Vladimir

ã“ã‚“ã«ã¡ã¯,

(Hello),

My name is Agathe and I lived in Japan for 3 years. I had the opportunity to finish my studies there. It was an incredible experience! Japan is a beautiful country, in which there are many things to discover such as Japanese culture.

A piece of advice before going to Japan, start studying the language and take lessons if you can.

Julien
