Child care in Jakarta

Armand

Hi,

when settling in a new country, working parents are mostly concerned about finding child care services for their children.

What can you share with us about the child care system in Jakarta ?

How much is daycare in Jakarta?

Is the staff qualified at these daycare centers?

What are the usual opening hours?

Do they provide other services at the daycare center?

Any daycare center in Jakarta you would like to recommend to other expats? What makes them special?

Thank you for participating! :)

In my area, day care is not famous. Commonly people here hire a maid or baby sitter. Most of the time they will help us to take care the children at home.

Ya, actually day care in indonesia is not available,

People most find a baby sitter / Maid to take care their child at home,  or they will find a time every one/ two per week to class for baby time, just play or something but actually it just takes 2 hours only.

This is an old thread but could well be an issue for many expats so I'l answer.
More and more schools are offering preschool/playschool facilities but the majority of these are limited to short hours.
Most, as was mentioned above, rely on maid/nanny services.

Both options commonly risk leaving your kid with an unqualified person so safety is something to be concerned about, but most schools criminal record check their staff before they employ them.
If you do hire a maid, ask her for a police record check and make sure you have a copy of her identity card on your phone.
