Areas for living in Da Nang

1happykamper

I'm thinking of changing my home base country from Thailand to Vietnam.

I'm in Da Nang now.. For a month or so.

I'm 84.3% certain that I've picked the right city.. But I haven't visited Da Lat or Nha Trang yet... I digress...

In the My An /An Thương area there are many open spaces of land... Which means.. They became trash dumps while waiting for construction to begin. What area.. Either side of the river (Han?) has less construction potential? Ie.. The more established neighborhoods

Thank you

Much of the southern end of Sơn Trà district () is older, established neighborhoods, especially north of .

South of that is really the northern edge of An Thượng and a bit too touristy for my tastes.

There are some beautiful riverside villas along  on the eastern side of the river (south of Lotte Mart) fronting some nice neighborhoods, but you'd almost certainly need an agent to find you an available place that wants to rent to foreigners.

We enjoy our near the bay and far away from tourist areas.

Knowing what I've learned about this city, if I wanted a great urban experience, I'd probably look for a place in the established neighborhoods around or surrounding (lake) Hồ Khuê Trung, which is also in the neighborhood of Mega Market.

Face.book is full of agents who will show you "foreigner rentals" but the listings in non-tourist areas are usually only listed in the Vietnamese-language groups, and those landlords usually demand at least a 1 year lease (preferably 3 years) and some amenities favoured by foreigners may be limited/non-existent.

Good luck with your search!
