Why do you guys bother paying tax on VN earnings?

Well..... I've a buddy in Singapore, moved there just one year in to his 10 year passport. 9 years later applied for his passport renewal......" Fill out this application, pay fee, we'll get it taken care of".

Next correspondence....Demand for unpaid taxes.....

Don't pay? no passport renewal, lose work visa, repatriated to USA pay taxes lol

He paid the taxes. Obviously a little more involved than this short reply.

It’s required by law. USA and Vietnam exchange information.

@secedit  he still needs to file it to declare foreign earned income.  And if more than exclusion allowed he may need to pay tax on income earned overseas.

Probably because they are employed and/or earning income legally.

Threads such as this don't apply to those working or doing business illegally.

if yout tax liability isn't cumbersome try turbo tax (can download from their online portal) you don't need a bean counter for simple return.
