Getting prescription medicine into/in Bahrain

Texan1987

Hello, I was diagnosed with ADHD many years ago and was on medication in my home country, and after moving here got tested again in Bahrain and got a regular script for ritalin.

I am a much better human with my medication. Now ritalin seems to have been stopped in Bahrain, and Concerta is also not being brought in.

My Bahrain doctor says he would write me a script to the medication I took back home, or either of the above but how do I get it shipped in from overseas? Is it possible? It’s been over a month now and I really need help.

You can get it shipped. A months or two supply at a time or someone can carry it for you - might need to go to customs to show them prescription in case its stopped.  Alternatively try to find in Saudi.

Thanks for replying, do I need a prescription in the parcel being sent over or can I just include the bahrain one? And if it gets held up in customs will I be informed? Bahrain is a bit of a nightmare with anything like this

They will stop it and you will get a letter by post to go to collect it. You show it then.

How do I know if it’s available in Saudi? Will a bahrain script be sufficient there?

XTang

You have to go and check or ask someone to check on your behalf. But generally, most medicines are readily available in Saudi and mostly off the counter - no prescription required.  For some items, yes it is required and Bahrain prescription works.

Correction.  There is a Covid test at the bridge on entry into Bahrain for 40 BD, not a vaccine :).

Can someone else get it for me? My husband goes to Saudi twice a week. Do you know why it’s unavailable in bahrain now?

XTang

Yes someone can get it for you.  I don't know about this particular drug but have experienced many drugs being unavailable off and on - the pharmacists always say that this is due to disputes between MOH and suppliers on pricing but who knows.

Appreciated thank you
