I already have a KITAP valid until 2025 and just renewed my MERP

Post new topic

NZfisherman02

Hi All,

I wondered if someone was able to help me. I already have a KITAP valid until 2025 and just renewed my MERP (Multiple Exit Re-Permit) for Indonesia valid from 2022 - 2024 (2 years). Inside my passport is some writing "should not leave Indonesia more than 1 (one) year from the date of departure" underneath the stamp of re-entry.

The MERP is valid for 2 years and I am confused as to what this writing refers to or means. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Yoginee

Thanks Yoginee, much appreciated.

Digitarius

I think it means you are allowed to leave in return once in a year.  I had that on mine and left and returned and had no issues.

NZfisherman02

Thanks @Digitarius

Not many people know what it means, but thank you very much for your reply.

@Yoginee  Hello. How are you? I am from bangladesh. i want to try kitap visa but  i do not know about it.Can you help to get kitap or  business visa?I need some information. How can i  get this visa?

Fred

KITAP - 5 years in Indonesia and commonly married to an Indonesian

Business - Varies but you need a lot of money

@NZfisherman02 it means when you leave Indonesia you must not stay abroad longer than a year

BaliTiger

@NZfisherman02. I understand that your Kitas and your re entry permit can run at different dates.

Yes, you must renew your re entry every 2 years. If you forget, your Kitas reverts back to day one and even if you got to 4 years, you revert back to zero.

I believe that you can't stay out of Indonesia for over one year as your Kitas is yearly renewal for 5 years and you must be in the country

After all, that is what it is, a retirement visa.

Please check with an agent.

Dynamoe

@NZfisherman02 My understanding is you can leave but you need permission from the government so your agent needs to show your intent on traveling to where and when you plan on returning. I didn’t like this clause either but when COVID struck I didn’t leave Indonesia during a 2 year period! After 5 years I got my KITTS equivalent to residency with few restrictions, good for 5 years!

NZfisherman02

Ok noted, thanks everyone very much appreciated.

@NZfisherman02

If you're out of Indo for more than one year, your kitap is automatically canceled.

Dr. MichaelBeer

If you have KITAP and MERP you are allowed travel out and back as many times you want, BUT not stay longer than 1 year abroad.

El Chicano

Hi everyone. So if someone could clarify. If I get KITAP I cannot stay abroad for more than one year without invalidating my KITAP? Is this a new rule? I'm on KITAS considering getting my KITAP.

Fred

The last I heard, your KITAP remains valid for up to one year if you are outside Indonesia.

A year and a day will see it invalid.

However, I'm a long way out of date so check with immigration

WongShifu

KITAP can last for 5 years, but reentry permit need to renew annually.

That's the WA number for south Jakarta imigrasi.

Post your question to them and they will answer within a couple of hours.

Or I'd suggest contacting the Indo consulate/embassy where you intend to be whilst out of Indonesia.

We all know that different offices might give different answers.

(For example I was told I could fill out a form in black ink hand written by the WA team, but when arriving at Kantor imigrasi they sent me away and told me to type it out!)

@WongShifu 2 year MERP is possible

Muhammad Nazakat

I just get KITAP for 5 years and me and my wife decided to go abroad for work and come back after two years but some comments make us confused.

any one please help me to get a correct information about KITAP holder. Can I stay other country more then one year?..How many years maximum can stay abroad?..please reply. thank you

WongShifu

@Michael Beer86 mine is 2 years, but the officer advised not to stay aboard more than a year.

expatinindo

@Muhammad Nazakat dear Muhammad, you cannot stay more than 184 days abroad otherwise your KITAP will be invalid and you have to start everything from the beginning ( as in KITAS and two years later KITAP)

Muhammad Nazakat

@expatinindo I asked many of my friends but they said a minimum of two years but your message shocked me. How I can get the correct information? I am in Surabaya. thanks

expatinindo

@Muhammad Nazakat , dear brother. Here is the law. What I thought was also wrong. so this below is the correct info.

UU no.6 , Tahun 2011

Pasal 62

(1) Izin Tinggal Tetap dapat berakhir karena pemegang Izin Tinggal Tetap:

a. meninggalkan Wilayah Indonesia lebih dari 1 (satu) tahun atau tidak bermaksud masuk lagi ke Wilayah Indonesia;

KITAP expires upon the holder leaving Indonesia for more than 1 year, or leaving without the intent to return.

So what I understand is, every year , you need to be at least one day in Indonesia.
