Birth Certificate Vs Extract from Birth Registrar - Singapore

Post new topic

Dear friends,

I have question about Birth certificate requirement while registering to your local commune for Singapore born. My daughter is born in Singapore and I have legalized "Extract from Birth Registrar" document as my original document was laminated.

1st thing happened was commune did not accept the "Extract" as it doesn't say it is birth certificate. So told me to get the document which says "Birth Certificate" that too apostilled. I did not had it and explained them it is not possible to get document apostilled and also I did not had with me here in brussels the original document .  After 2-3 weeks of my request they told me to get original laminated document along with extract for registration.

So I got it posted with registered post and after waiting for a month I understood from BPOST that it is lost and couldn't be tracked. Now I went to them and requested them to accept the extract document. To which they are saying we need document with "Birth Certificate"

Does anybody know if I can get document "Birth Certificate" again? How to get it? Or if you have faced similar problem or how to resolve this.

Thank you and wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

regards,

Gaurav

The original laminated document you mentioned - was it a birth certificate or an extract ?

And always use DHL or similar (they are expensive, but wont lose your stuff) to send important documents.
