Hi, I'm coming to stay in Kuwait for 12 weeks. I need to find an affordable portable wi fi to work from my accommodation for at least 3/4 hours a day. . Is it better to buy it before leaving Italy or wait and buy it once there? Thank you very much in advance Ale

It is possible, what I suggest you do is get a mobile line, which you will just need to make a friend there with a civil ID to help you out, or if you have a work visa you can use that. the data packages for mobile lines is very good in Kuwait, you can pay KD 10 and get almost 100gb.

there is a portable router option, however it is a subscription you take from one of the providers, sTC, ooredoo, Zain, Virgin etc. and they usually are contracts for about 1 year. since you are only there for 12 weeks, I suggest you get a line and pay 10KD, hotspot the laptop from your phone and enjoy.

Where in Italy are you? I visited Genova for a 2 week assignment back in 2013, good times.
