switching to a student visa

Maggiep

Hi, I'm from the US and I've been wanting to study in Sweden for a while. The main issue is that I won't receive a decision about my admissions until a month before I will have to go to sweden. I won't have enough time to apply for a residency permit but I was wondering if I could apply for a visitors permit and then switch to a resident one later on when I'm already in Sweden. Would I still be able to study there?

TLDR: You'll need to visit Swedish embassy in US for biometrics and residence permit collection

@Maggiep Students generally get the decision well in time to not miss their study schedule and also settle well before. (This is based on what I know personally.)

@Maggiep I think you can do that or you write to immigration office for more information
