Moving to Perth & importing a dog

Post new topic

Hi there!

My family and I are relocating to Perth and we have the family dog to consider and import with us.

I've been reviewing the process outlined by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and it seems very daunting.  We are coming from Canada - a "category 3" country - and I wonder whether anyone else out there has been through the process?  If so, can you comment on the difference between testing from an "official government veterinarian" vs. a "government approved veterinarian" (which I assume is code for a standard licensed vet).

Also, how did your dog fare with the travel?  How long did they keep the dog in quarantine?

I'd love some first hand account from someone on the other side of this process to learn a bit more about the steps and lessons learned so we can make it as simple as possible.

Thanks!

Erinn
