Cost to install Air Conditioning

Post new topic

MacGeorge8035

Hi, I am buying a new build properly here in Cyprus and it comes with provision for Air Con. Any idea how much it costs to install a typical 9200 btu Inverter Air Con unit with condenser and installation included.

on the same note, does anyone have any idea of the cost of a 1 meter high aluminum fencing of around 40 meters in length.

Hi

Congratulations on your purchase 1f603.svg

I would get a few quotes and haggle hard!! It is not like UK or America where you have to pay for what it says on the label.  Act like you are at a fruit market, if you don't like the price then you walk..

Cyprus is full of A.C companies you don't have to go very far to bump into one. Also when buying aircon ask when and where it was manufactured ask for evidence they may be selling you a unit that was made 10 or more years ago and they are making out its brand new. Also ask if it comes with a spare cylinder. If you have pigeons flying around check for blockages each month or so from bird poo/feathers and even pigeons themselves...

I cannot advise on the fencing sorry but think it should be similar to above advise, haggle, haggle and haggle.

Good luck 🤞

Buy your own units and the get the supplier to fit or a local guy..

We bought inverters  2 x 9000btu units and 1 x 18000 btu from a supplier (Pambos Electronics) in Limassol ordered Saturday 5pm and he delivered them 930am Monday morning .. got a local man Lambros Lewnidou (Petros at wood n good brother) to fit them ...120 euros each for fitting

MacGeorge8035

@Toon what was the cost of the units?

phildraper

I had a quote from A J Pugh for a new inverter unit including fitting and VAT 570.00 with 7 year guarantee. The property owner was not happy to go ahead and spend the  money so I did not get comparison quotes!

@phildraper

do you have a contact for A J Pugh

lshill

You could try CMC - they prices were competitive and installation was the next day. We had agreed with someone else to fit unit but he never turned up again or replied after the second time.  Thee two men who fitted it were really quick and efficient.  After considering other models we bought a Bosch and couldn't be more pleased.  Worked well in winter for heating but haven't tried it yet for cooling.  Switch it on when we are on our way home with the app.

AJ Pugh he lives in Peyia, # 99936725 If you use him mention I recommended him as he repaired my ac in Kamares and he might give you a discount lol. I would get several quotes and compare based on warranty and guarantee etc

Toon

Always get a quote or three .. as a guide 120 per install as a rough price for installation

Either get your own units and thus a guarantee on them  or get the supplier to fit

Hi

Make sure when whoever installs units also install isolator switches to each unit.

MacGeorge8035

I am a little confused by some of the pricing I see online. As an example, I see a price for a 9000btu wall-mounted Inverter unit of €399 but I don't know if this includes the condenser unit or not. The description includes the size of the condenser unit but it does not explicitly say in the price.

I am trying to work out what my budget would need to be to have 5 x 9000btu Air conditing units installed in a new house. I am looking at budgeting between €2500 - €3000 is this a reasonable amount?

Toon

Usually they are sold together ..the price you pay is for both.. yes your thinking on budget is good ..but would suggest you negotiate a discount for 5 units including fitting

We have 9000 in both large bedrooms and a 18000 in our very large open-plan living dining room kitchen .. . I thought I might have needed a 24000 but the 18000 is bang on

We bought ours from pambos electronics in Limassol.. all midea easy lite units all remote WiFi inverter units ...best price we could find and had my  friend Lambros Lewnidou fit them for us... They work like a dream

Toon

Just remember the fitting charges may vary depending in if any new pipework etc is needed. As most install charges get limited to the acceptable amount of pipework needed.. over and above is charged as an extra

MacGeorge8035

@Toon I am being told by the builder that all the pipework etc will be in situ. We will see I’d due, not that I am sceptical or anything.

MacGeorge8035

@Toon  Thanks, I wasn’t sure but that is reassuring, I will expect a reasonable discount for 5 units. I must admit I am surprised how inexpensive the Air Con is. I will see about using Midea units that appear to be mid range in price.

How big is your dining living area in your place. Mine will be about 40 square metres so I was going to fit 2 x 9000 btu or 2 x 12000 btu units. Need to do some calculations soon. We have 3 bedrooms that largest being 16 sq metres so will be fitting 9000 btu units.

Toon

Total internal area 85-86 sq metres incl bedrooms approx 12 sq metres each and bathroom of 6 sq metres

MacGeorge8035

@Toon Yep that is the btu calculator I have been using.

cwhytock1

@Toon hi do u have the fitters number pls x

Toon

I do have his number but he only works in the Peyia and paphos area

@MacGeorge8035

Hi, the white aluminum fence costed me E 122 per meter. height was .880. This was on the condition no Vat was charged which meant -- pay in cash. otherwise pay an extra 19%. Note this cost is in the Paralimni area and specifically Sotira.
