I would love to meet you ... But I reside in JEddah
leigh&Zara wrote:Hi Guys,
We are looking at relocating to Riyadh in the near future and have some questions for you.
Are we free to move around as a family? go shopping, days out etc
Our daughter is also partially deaf, is there any support groups in the expat comunity in Riyadh?
Does any one know of an audiology unit where we will be able to get her ear molds made etc.
Also is it correct that whilst on your compound the girls can wear normal western clothing?
Thanks in advance
Leigh
Hi Leigh, this isn't a good place for your post (it will be lost). Why not delete this and repost as its own thread where it will get maximum exposure?
Best of luck!
Are you in Denmark as your profile says?
T-girl wrote:Im from Denmark, but living in Riyadh. Arrived last week
Well welcome to the sandbox! (I was confused because your profile previously said you were from Saudi Arabia but living in Denmark lol).
I just made an adjustment...
Thank you... I find it so difficult to get social here, Ramadan is not making it any better But do you laides have like a get together now and then??
Yes, people do meet but then it dies off (people begin to make other friends at work or pair off with a couple blog friends) until somebody re-initiates it.

Not to my knowledge. Why don't you initiate it?? A good start is always coffee on the Ladies floor at Kingdom Mall (don't have to worry about any of the males 'crashing' lol).Â
How about combing through the most recent posts on this thread and sending a PM to a couple women inviting them, stating a time and place. After one or two have confirmed, put the invite here on the blog for anybody else who wants to attend. Word of advice: people will be saying, I'd like to come but the day isn't good, please change it, etc. etc. DON'T CHANGE IT! You can't please all the people all the time. Just set one date, get a couple people to definitely commitment, and then do it.

Time?
Hi, I'm also a new member here but would like to know if me and my mother could join in the meeting? We recently switched compounds and our new one has a pretty dead social scene. At least the last one had ladies bunco parties and a weekly bingo night at the recreation center. So if you'er still holding a meet up on the ladies floor at kingdom I hope it would be okay for us to join.
Wishing you all great month of Ramadan
let me join you girls ;-)
I dont know hwy my post keeps disappearing.. Well If theres a Starbucks on the ladies floor, lets meet there on saturday 21:00
Hi everybody, I hope to see you tonight at 21:00 Kingdom Tower, ladies floor, STARBUCKS.. I might be running late, I have to go to the hospital at 20:30 to get my stitches removed from a little "accident" I had 3 days after my arrival

I had a great time with you guys! I hope you got a cab without too much trouble.
hey ladies add me too lets add each other
we got home, it was great seeing you. We are gonna do this again
Nice thing is that after Ramadan, you can do it at a more reasonable time. Some of us used to meet Thursday, late morning, and have lunch.
CONGRATS for taking the initiative, T-girl!
HEY FRIENDS MESSAGE ME ON RIY_D@HOTMAIL.COM NEXT TIME WHENVER YOU PLAN TO MEETUP. ALSHAIMA
Yes everything will be easier after Ramadan, we should do like some of the guys are doing and meet once a week (or ever 2 week) and people can join as they like...
Hi to all ladies,
Pleased to see this blog. Well, it's true that there is no social life especially for expats. Our entertainment is only big air condition malls. Only when our hubbies are off from office.
I am in Riyadh since April,2012 even though I am interested in starting job in hospital as I am doctor by profession but the environment made me lazy
My general routine is that whole day in apartment with my 6 months baby girl.
Hope to see you all on any coffee/or one dish party.
Regards,
Nadia Saad
