Any Ex Canadians requested a CRA determination on non resident

Looking for some advice on this, has anyone  sent the Nr74 to CRA and received a letter of determination?

LorneG

No. We simply made sure we covered all the bases.

  1. We established a residency elsewhere
  2. We officialized #1 with a permanent residency visa.
  3. We gave up our provincial health card.
  4. I gave up my professional license
  5. We filed as non-residents
  6. We collapsed our RRSPs and paid the federal income tax due.

We only sold our former Canadian old home a few years after.  No problems.

Hi

Thank you for your inputs. I have a question if you can please guide me.

I left Canada in 1996 and haven't lived there since. I have also established residency status in another country.

But I never formally filed a non-resident status application in Canada. Do I need to do that ?

Appreciate your reply.

Have you been filing tax returns?

I consulted with the best tax expert (lawyers) in our city..those with a national reputation. I then acted accordingly.
