Moving to the Netherlands to be with my partner... but I have a child

Hi!

So, we have pretty much figured out how to get me moved to the Netherlands and get a visa for me. I am American currently so that make things a bit easier. My partner and sponsor is a Dutch citizen. What I can't seem to find is information about me bringing my daughter with me. From a legal standpoint (at least in my country) I am her only parent. I am the only parent listed on her birth certificate. Is she considered his child under guardianship? I haven't found any information about single moms moving to the Netherlands to be with a partner. Does this fall under family visas?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Child welfare is a sensitive topic in the Netherlands; normally, the child's other parent has rights, and you would typically need their written permission to bring your child to the Netherlands.  You say your partner is Dutch, my advice would be for him to go to the IND and ask them what is required.  This will take you straight to the contact section of their website.

I hope this helps.

@Cynic The child does not have another parent. It is just me. I will reach out to them but I do not know how long it will take them to get back to me.

Hi again.

You can phone the IND, their number is in the link I gave you.
