People leaving Alanya

Post new topic

Perhaps you also have had heard about stories that people going back (Germany, Russia, Ukraine) not per se because of Ikamet, but especially because of the increases cost of living.

I have to say cost is certainly (also in EUR) not cheaper then before, but acceptable, howevever if you rent situation might be different. (Rent can be a killer)

I do not speak Russian, but I see/hear that many Germans go back (again Ikamet is not the main reason, more cost of living (especially renting an apartment)

Luckily we own, so I suppose Ikamet is fine, still it is sad to see many consider Alanya to be too expensive, indeed more espensive than in the past, but yes still much cheaper (including all other costs) then for example Germany.

Please look at local taxes, electricity, water....

I do not have to tell about pluses (I did frequently)

For those on limited income, indeed back in Germany, UK, Netherlands you can possibly claim benefits (good for you although I do not agree, but I have some savings so easy for me to say)

Sad what is happening, even pensioners spend some money (not too much), but people come here with a certain expectation and now it is gone.

Mentioned before for a VERY comfortable life for a couple (without rent EUR 2K is best). I Do not like people who present it is possible with EUR 700 (for a couple)

We use (all inclusive alcohol, cigarettes, restaurants, ...) around EUR 3 K per month (a bit less in reality, but I am careful)

@cdw057Just fast note: I retired in Kusadasi 2 years ago from the USA. At that time I rented in a very desirable area overlooking the Aegean Sea and the city of Kusadasi, a fairly large three-bedroom condo. At the lease signing, I was paying 4500 TL at the equivalent US dollar of $520. I am now starting my third year here and with two 25% rent raises, I am now paying 7500 TL/month. With the exchange rate going wild, I am now paying the USD equivalent of approximately $280.00. So as you see the cost of living here is considerably lower. I easily live on $1500/month for two people. Although utilities, services, and food costs have risen, I am still doing better than when I first entered Turkey. I eat out at good restaurants, do a little traveling and enjoy the nightlife here with no problems,

I hope Ikamet will go fine for the coming years, even if we are owners, I am still worried, your post is excellent though.

By the way I hate nightlife (I like drinking (too much) and smoking) but I go to bed at 7.00 PM

Kusadasi looks interesting though. Of course I do not live there but looks interesting.

I am passive and I am happy with Mahmutlar (Alanya) though.  Everything is close (supermarkets, market, sea, restaurants, ..) So we do not have a car.

Hi,

I am the chairman of The Turkish Property Professionals (TTPP), an association for real estate and construction firms based in Alanya.

Regarding the issue with IKAMET, we ( TTPP,  the Alanya Chamber of Commerce, and MÜTBİR (Constructors Association))  have submitted a report to the Vice President, the Ministry of Interior Affairs,

Our report indicates that the purchasers of properties are primarily investors, rather than refugees. They significantly contribute to the economy through their spending. Hence, we have urged the state to automatically provide an ikamet to foreign buyers. We hope that this request will be processed promptly and lead to favorable results.

Kind Regards,

Ph.D. Yakup Uslu
