Suprise at Landers Today

Post new topic

Enzyte Bob

In the past the question has come up about Turkeys for Thanksgiving (USA). Today I saw Honeysuckle Turkeys at Landers, I didn't notice the price but I just checked online and it is P2693.70 for 7.3kg. With today's exchange rate that is $47.50.

In another post,  traveling on airlines with a dogs and their comfort room availability, I saw a dog at Landers wearing a diaper.

@Enzyte Bob over priced turkey! Back in the day, SF St. Anthony's would give you 2 Butterball turkeys for nothing but the lines were l-o-n-g! I have not had any turkey since moving to the Philippines although I bought some Butterball ground turkey at my local Metro grocery store last week.

Enzyte Bob

This morning I checked the online prices for Turkey at S&R. A smaller Honeysuckle 6.3kg is P3017.70, ($53) That's smaller and more expensive than Lander's per kg.

Also S&R has roasted Butterball breast with rib & back portions, 2.7kg for P2459 ($43.25)

Filipino version: Chicken stuffed Balut or Spaghetti.

Let me know when/if you see smoked hocks! I'll find a way to smuggle the pinto beans if I have too! 1f923.svg

I just bought exactly this at S&R Pampanga this morning. it was on sale for slightly less at the same weight P2,380.

pretty good deal, if you ask me.

Looking forward to a many delicious turkey sandwiches!

For those in Cebu, Anzani Restaurant in Nivel Hills usually has a very nice sit down Thanksgiving dinner for about 5K. One time we did that you got the whole turkey, carved at your table. The 3 of us had a feast and plenty of leftovers. I think the most recent time it may have just been a turkey plate, don't really recall,, but in any case their food is always excellent.

That sounds fantastic. A meal to remember, I'm sure !

I order from Amazon all the times.  I am a prime  member  I ship both to PI or US as i spend time in both places.  Shipping is reliable  and have had no problems   By far my favorite country to deal with.  i was pleasantly surprised the other day when i got free shipping on some clothes to the PI for my wife and daughter

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS!

But one important question...How'd you get beans through Amazon? I just looked and Pinto beans and red beans are both not deliverable to the Philippines. :-(

Réal Marchand

@Larry Fisher

So am in cebu and i Just have to order on m'y prime Amazon here in Canada abd they ship to cebu? Wow cant wait to try that.

Tks Larry

Larry Fisher

yea I order on my USA Amazon acct with Philippines address. No issues. Unexpectedly fast shipping in my opinion.

I'm also in Cebu, but 3 hrs south in the province. If you're in the city it's faster.

What method of shipping did you use?

@Enzyte Bob

Not often I go shopping for groceries usually only every 2 months when I renew my extension, Ben prefers to go by himself which suits me fine as well as him telling me that when he shops every 2 weeks he only spends 9 or 10K but if I tag along it's 15/20K but I like to stock up anyway I digress.

I was pleasantly surprised today  in Robinsons to find largish frozen honey turkey's @ 2,800 as well as imported rib eye etc but the prices blew me out of the water 800 pesos for one steak and it was slices thin.

I hope to secure a turkey for Christmas if the kitchen is finished and room in the freezer.

Cheers, Steve.

Dry or canned?

Most of the Pintos (dry) that I'm seeing cannot be shipped here. I did find a 24lb (4 gal pail) . Shipping and duty fees were more than the beans. About $140 total delivered. ugh.
