I have about 7 experiences in doing this role. I'm also holding a recognized degree cert which is listed in MOM's list when I did the SATS. In fact, this is actually internal transfer from MY to SG . So that's why I din't expect that my EP will got prolong. Yeah.. still waiting! Will update if I have any updates. Thanks!
Hi Xuan,
Would you happen to know what did your company include in the appeal? Was it just a letter explaining why they need you? Or did they provide any additional documents?
Thank you
Hi,
I've been offered to come and work in Singapore (have received the offer letter) which has to start by March. Here are some notes on my EP application in Jan:
Fresh grad
Uni of manchester: masters + bach in engineering
8 months working experience
3 months relevant exp
fixed monthly salary: SGD3,500
Job: Assistant Manager (technical data)
Employer has 10 people working there currently (Regional office)
I've also applied for Work Holiday Pass in September, and have an approved application which I did not go through with (IPA letter has already expired in December) due to personal reason.
My question is could the rejection of my EP application be because I decided not to go forward with the approved WHP application? or could it be because of my actual EP application is not strong enough? If so, why?
(I've used the Self-Assessment Tool and said I was qualified though it's not guaranteed)
Please shed some light! Thanks so much!
The WHV has nothing to do with your rejection.
You will only get a visa to work in Singapore if you have skills (education and work experience) that are needed here (i.e. Singapore would benefit economically from your presence) AND you don't take a job that a suitably skilled local could also do. This is very unlikely to apply for fresh graduates. I assume, unless you have niche skills not mentioned in your post, that is the reason you were rejected.
Try to get at least three years of good work experience before you tray again - your chances are much higher then!
Thank you so much beppi for your reply!
Just wondering, is there anyway I can strengthen my case to work in my favor (will also ask my sponsor to give convincing reasons for the appeal)?
Or should my sponsor apply for the S pass instead?
I would really like to work in Singapore - it’s been my dream to live and work there.
Thank you again!
your employer must give a convincing reason why they need to hire you and nobody else. It would be best if the future growth of the company in Singapore (and thus jobs for locals) depend on you. They also must show unsuccessful attempts to find a suitable person to hire locally.
Thanks again for your reply!
Also, do you think I can enter Singapore on tourist visa when my appeal application is on pending status? Would it affect my application by any means?
Really appreciate your thoughts on this! Thanks!
Hello everyone. I just want to share my experience.
Jan 21 2019 - company applied for spass.
February 1, 2019 - rejected due to companies insifficient quota
February 15, 2019 - my company already fixed the issue about quota requirement but waited for another two weeks beforenthe quota to be updated in the system.
March 1 2019 - System was updated with new quota availability for FT. Company apply for appeal. This is a huge turning point because appealing with no SIGNIFICANT changes at all will not make sense. Also, the time interval to fixed the issue is really genuine because it MOM saw it as something that is not forced right away.
March 12, 2019 - My appeal was approved.
For people like me who have waited for quite sometime for pass to be approved do not lose hope. All we can do is wait. I think MOM. Let them do their job and avoid making follow up almost every day because that wont help. Being impatient tells a lot with the company and the employees character.
Make sure to submit Legitimate information and supporting documents
Above all, let us not put our whole lives ahead of this, like as if it is the end of the world in case we get rejected. Have another plan in case it didnt work this time.
FYI. I have given up my hopes when it got rejected the first time. I am actually set to work in my home country and what i got this news.
Moral lesson, if it is meant to be it is meant to be. Do your part and just let it be. It is always 1/3 hardwork 1/3 luck and 1/3 universe. All the best. Thank you Singapura for this opportunity.
My question btw, what is the next step after this?

Travel to Singapore with your IPA, then attend a medical checkup, visit MoM to have the S-Pass issued, then start work with your employer.
Hi everyone. My experience so far, architecture industry
-2017 3 weeks, rejected for more papers + 2 more week.
-2019 1 week, though got downgraded to S pass in another company
DO NOT quit your job until your pass is approved. It can be so boring.
@beppi thanks for the response. Im not quite sure if you know the answer, but let me try. For the medical/body check up, do you hapoen to know what are the areas to be check for the medical examination? And will it be shoulder by the requesting company?
Hi ,
Under the MEDICAL REQUIRED option , my IPA says 'Declaration'. What does it mean ? If i will need to go through a medical test , may i know what all tests will be performed ?
Thanks,
Avinash Singh
beppi wrote:It is a general medical checkup if you are fit for work and free of contagious diseases.
thanks beppi. And whats the meaning of 'Declaration' in Medical required option ?
Hi all, I think I know the answer to this but would like to double check. If the salary offered to me is more than the salary in the jobs bank, that will mean a rejection to the EP application right? Is there like a plus minus 10% on the salary etc or is it very black and white e.g. if its over by $1?
In Job bank, if they have mentioned a salary range, then it’s fine. If they have a fixed salary amount, that means maximum they can offer that salary. It’s not hard coded amount that if they hiked $50 additional to their declaration per month, would be flagged off at MoM.
But, if MoM asks then employer has to be in a position to justify it with valid rationale.
Hi Punchkin
I was going through your thread today and I am in the same boat. My EP got rejected last week and I am yet to understand the reason from my lawyers by tomorrow. So I see your EP got rejected like mine. I see that your appeal got rejected too. Am I right if I saw MoM will approve S pass if I one is overqualified?

What those lawyers have to do with your work pass rejection? I think you have wrongly advised by someone.
Your employer is only party with whom MoM will share the reason for rejection. They don’t care who are those lawyers and they have no obligation to tell the reason to them.
Stay away from this process as MoM doesn’t like any legal team or person knock their door for any employee’s work pass rejection. They are final authority to approve or reject based on yardsticks or set of rules and guidelines at their end. Good luck
Hi,
My EP got rejected on 31May with the new employer as per MOM the reason is salary mismatch, i.e. salary offered is more than job ad .Currently I'm holding EP with current employer valid till Oct 2020 which is no use as project is getting scrapped.. So the new employer has re-post job ad on 3rd June with revised salary range and then will appeal to MOM after 14 days of job posting. Can anyone tell what's the probability /how long it takes to get EP now??
After the two weeks re-posting with corrected salary range is completed, the actual EP processing will start.
Please read my (long) first post in the „How long will my work pass application take“ to get an idea.
Thanks Beppi. Understand that this process will take its own time, but my worry is growing up as time is passing on.Can u tell me how long it takes/what’s the probability of getting new EP???

In any case you have to wait for 14 days now before an appeal is made. There after MOM would take its due time which no one knows. It can be 1 day to a month or more. You can check the pinned posts for details by Surya and Beppi about criteria and chances of approval. Since we don't know your personal details, employer details, salary, job on offer... no one can analyse.
Avinashjha is correct, and this is all that can be said about the topic.
Be patient and you will get the result in due course. (And you don‘t need to worry about growing up - it‘s actually a good thing!)
Hi Vidya
Since you already have an existing EP, I am assuming your credentials are fine and hence that should not be a problem with your new EP application which your employer will do after 14 days of corrected posting.
So the below 3 things in my opinion will be dependent for your EP approval :-
1. Your new employer credentials ie whether it’s a startup or an old company, it’s contribution to the Singapore economy, it’s past reputation with MoM etc
2. What is the new role you are taking up with your new employer
3. How long you have been in your current role on EP as MoM does not like job hoppers
Regarding the timing, it can be anything from 1 day to a month depending on the company. I believe the time it took for you to get rejection in your 1st application should be more or less the same time in your new application, but nobody can be sure of this.
Best of luck!
Hi Vijay,
Thanks for ur reply.
I work as VLSI design engineer with 14 yrs of experience.I am working with my current employer from past 3 years & new employer is typically US based MNC 25 yrs old.
I was quiet confident for getting my EP approved in one shot but the outcome was not positive unfortunately.
Hope for the best.
Hey Vidya
Yes, so if your employer is well established and you have seen other employees with your new employer getting an EP in similar roles in similar salary range with similar experience in the past, then I believe you will eventually get it. You just have to be patient and wait!
All the best!
The main reason here to get an EP is missing that whether your employer justifies hiring a foreigner for this position! If MoM asks to show proof that they have tried locally but skill sets which they are looking for are not matched so they are hiring a foreigner. Your skills set should be matching with their job ad (employer must be advertised in Job bank for two weeks earlier) and offered salary shouldn’t be much deviation to market standard.
But, one thing is in your favour that you are currently working in Singapore and all credentials can be verified by MoM. So, process should be much faster. Good luck
Hi All,
Just now I spoke with the new employer , as per them they appealed on 7th June that means exactly 4 days after job posting on job bank..If I’m not wrong as per MOM protocol need to appeal 14 days from job posting??
Not sure why they did so??Any suggestions??

If your Employer has < 10 Employees OR your offered salary is > 15k per month, then 14 days clause is relaxed. But since the original reason was failure to post job ad for 14 days then that should stand true even now.
Ask your employer why they appealed before 14 days. any specific reason ?
They have to wait for minimum 2 weeks (other than those two points mentioned in earlier message are satisfied). I’m surprised that these HR personnel’s lacking to understand the basic requirements of appealing. Contact them and cascade this to rectify ASAP. Good luck
Can I get your suggestions pls:
1. 1st EP app put in to MOM while working at old employer.
2. Few days later, put in notice to resign with old employer.
3. 1st EP rejected.
4. Employer is putting in a 2nd EP app to MOM.Â
Technically I am still on the books of my old employer. My last official date is a few days after step 4^.
For employment history details for my 2nd EP app, do you suggest I use the same employment history dates used in my 1st EP app?
Or should I update these dates and add a few weeks to when my last official date will be? (would result in a few weeks difference - this would also mean that I have +1 month of experience that I need to update in the 2nd EP app)
I have nothing to hide, but just conscious to keep details MOM receives the same. Do you think this will really matter for MOM? Thanks so much.
As your present job was continuing at the time of application, you can mention the joining date and end date would be present.
Your message is quite confusing, try to write less and emphasise more.
What do you mean by 1st EP rejected, 2nd EP putting app? Are you trying to say that the new employer who had applied your EP was rejected! Now, they are trying to appeal or changing the job scope for you then applying second time? Good luck
