renting appartment

What are the ways of renting apartments', I mean to apply D7 or D8 visa, you need to show 1 year agreement and it is hard, because you dont know when you will be invited for the interview. It means you are paying for a rent and you are not using it and if there are any ways to avoid it?

Thanks

You don't actually have to have a rented apartment if you know someone in Portugal who can issue a termo de responsabilidade (proof of Accomodation) saying they will provide you with a place to stay while you look for your own. I did that and got a visa.

Do a search for –  termoderesponsabilidade(proofOfAccomodation).pdf

I found one of the SEF site.

Just so you know if your host is themselves renting a property the Portuguese Embassy in London will ask for  written agreement and ID from the actual owners of the property.
