We used International Van Lines (IVL) for the big move and U Pak We Ship for a small preliminary lot.  IVL kept adding "unforseen" additional expenses after they picked up our stuff.  It was during covid but still the thousands of additional expenses seemed unreasonable.  Additionally, there was a fair amount of damage.  Another thing I didn't like was that they present themselves as a moving company but then everything was contracted out so they were really more like a moving broker.  I think this is pretty common these days.  On the other hand, we were very satisfied with U Pak We Ship.  No price hikes, very transparent.  However, it means that you need to be in a situation where you can have the container or box sit in front of your house for several days or more.  If you need help packing or unpacking the container, you can hire local moving companies to do that on either end, which is what the big movers are going to do anyway. So there more like a DIY, i.e., not full service mover.

Don’t use ***! they changed timeframe of our move and didn’t inform us.  we were closing on our Boston home so we had a very narrow window of time.  i spent two hours on the phone before I could reach a human being. The truck that showed 4 up hours late  was from Olympic movers.  It was a disaster.  They packed heavy cast iron cook were on top of china and other fragile items; many broken objects of sentimental value, so irreplaceable. They would only cover a tiny  (roughly $10) per box value as I took only total loss replacement insurance,  never thinking professional packers would be so negligent. I would advise packing fragile items yourself if you aren’t Paying individual coverage for each item.  and use a different company! I had great success with Issac's Movers for several US moves and one small overseas move.

There is a lot of things that can go wrong and a lot of things that can go well. You never know it is a luck of the draw. The less stuff you bring over the beter, there is not a lot of space in France for stuff like in the US. We had to sell a lot of stuff and just had to give stuff away to get rid of it and still we did not have enough space for evrything.
