Hello, we are flying in to Alicante Sunday September 1st for a 12 day stay to see if we can retire to Spain. We need to find some expat friends to give us good information, we don’t just want this trip to be a vacation. Can someone tell us how and where we can find some friends to help us? I remember Spain and the people as warm and friendly and am really looking forward to our visit.
Thanks Steve
Just walk into your local Bar and you will meet a lot of ex pats and also Spanish. You don't need a formal introduction !!
@Julien

Hello everyone, my name is Cho, and I moved to Spain about 2 years ago. I still find it difficult to make profound friendship, and a big part of the Spanish socializing culture is drinking, going out and partying. I find it taxing to fit in, and I don't want to fit in anymore. I want to make friends, but not through partying. If anyone is interested in going on hikes, becoming gym buddies or even going on weekend trips, please reach out to me!
Hi My name is Amanda. I am 64 years old and single. I am currently living in Tenerife with family but want to move to mainland Spain. I am considering areas around Barcelona or Seville. Not sure which. Seville is cheaper to rent and good road networks. Barcelona has great train and medical services. I am struggling to decide which would be best for a single, mature female so any advice would be appreciated.
@Julien
Hi. I am retired and have been living in Salou. I am looking for friends English and French speaking to share activities. Hoping to hear from you soon.
Hi everyone, I've just joined this group because my partner and I have been thinking about moving from London to Valencia for some time having now visited 3 times and fallen in love with the place. We're planning a 3 month stay from Feb-April 2025 to allow us to properly explore Valencia while also attending a language school.Â
@Julien
Hiya
My name is Dorota, I am originaly from Poland but have been living in the UK for the last ... for ever
My husband (English) and I have just purchased a flat in Alboraya and are very exciting to collect the keys in a few days time.
Now we face new challenges like getting an internet, TV, bills transfered, understanding the taxes, changing the locks in the flat (it used to be air bnb) etc.
I hope that this community may be able to help out with some questions as they arise.
Thanking in advance.
Also, is there some meeting places for expats in Valencia? Would be nice to meet some new friendly faces in a new sunny place
Hugs
Dorota

@Julien Started coming out here 20+ years ago, mainly for the winter away from Ireland. As I got older, the winters got longer! Now I'm fully retired and most of my time is here. We've a Motorhome which we use to drive back & forth to UK & Ireland, ferry out of Bilbao.
We live between San Pedro & Estepona. For last 16 years we've run a Charity.***
Cheers

  Hi, I am a teacher, looking for work as an English as a foreign language teacher in Tenerife, Spain. I wish to become an ex-pat due my lack of confidence in my country's leadership -- specifically the incoming President. I am very fond of the Canary Islands, as I have researched it extensively. I am also a science fiction writer, and the narrator of my novels is from the Canary Islands.Â

Hi everyone!
Moved to Toledo recently, loved the place so much, especially the historical town.
I am in technology startups, work remotely. In my 50s, originally from Armenia.
Looking to connect with English-speaking expats for socializing, exchange of ideas, maybe even business partnership. Or just drinks and chit-chat!

Hi,
I´m Justin recently moved to Granada area from Alicante and i´m looking forward to getting some great hints and tips about living around Granada. I´m also interested in finding a new Spanish teacher and somone who knows the processes and procedures here in Andalucia who could, if needed accompany me andf my wife Maureen to official offices and translate if needed.
Hi everyone,
My name is Alessandra.
Reading through your introductions and experiences resonates deeply with me. In 2020, my family and I made the leap from Italy to Barcelona with our then 1-year-old. It was a whirlwind of excitement, challenges, and countless lessons learned.
Now, as a mother of two who has been through the process, I’ve navigated the ins and outs of relocating and settling into Spain. While I'm not a real estate agent, I've assisted others in finding their footing here—be it through understanding the housing market, bridging language barriers, or simply sharing insights on daily life.
If any of you have questions or need a friendly ear to discuss your plans, feel free to reach out. I'm here to share experiences and support each other in this journey.
Hi guys and Merry Christmas!
My name is Bohdan and I moved to Spain with my wife last year.
I’m a smart home expert and client oriented person. I do love my business and I’m excited to make people’s life easier adding colours and convenience through technology.
I’m in a business since 2007 and my clients were much more demanding than clients here in Spain.
I am based in Marbella and would be happy to benefit your community.
