Private health insurance for foreign retirees

Post new topic

sacha279adm

Good morning,

would someone know if European retirees who want to move to Spain are required to take out a private health insurance which covers 100% of the cost of the service (in other words there is no co-pay)? is this a must to obtain the residency in Spain?

Many thanks

ABcan

@sacha279adm

Yes if you looking getting a visa rather than moving in and out

@ABcan thanks and this applies to EU retirees as well? How can someone who is 75 years old or older get this type of private insurance given many have age limits?

Any person who is going to reside for more than 90 days in Spain must have a NIE and medical insurance to obtain it, otherwise they will be in an irregular situation with the problems that this entails. If you want information about health insurance you can contact me privately. greetings

@sacha279adm

everyone applying for residence status is required to have 100% medical cover without any co-payments nor exemptions

That can be with private insurance, as an employee or with S1 cover paid for by DWP.
