PR Application 2023 - 2024 Update

BLWQ_0213

Hello

I applied for PR on 30 Nov 2023. I was engaged to my SC fiance in 2023 and we will be getting married this year. The actual wedding will likely be towards the end of the year because we just can't find a venue with openings earlier in 2024. Would it help my chances for PR if we went through with the solemnisation first and get the marriage certificate to update the PR application?

My profile is below for reference:

30 y/o femle

Chinese (Taiwanese) with US Passport

Graduated with a top 20 University worldwide from the US (ivy league degree)

Been in Singapore since 2017 (2 years on EP, 3 years on Student Pass, now on EP again) - almost 7 years total.

Went to SMU for law degree

Currently working as a lawyer at one of the best local law firms in Singapore (salary 100k per year)

Have a job offer to switch to a another law firm in Singapore with salary 150k per year pending EP application. My start date should be in March.

Any insights would be great. The reason we are considering signing the marriage docs first is because 1) we were going to get married anyway in March, it's just we can't find a venue to do the celebration; and 2) if my PR application gets rejected, I have to restart the entire process again (6+ months). So I'm looking for ways to give this application its best shot.

Thank you!

Being married to a Singapore citizen and having a 50% higher salary would both increase your chances, of course.

For marriage, the solemnisation is the only thing that counts - the party is a private event with no legal relevance!
