Libya Visa UPdate 02/09/2011

Post new topic

officeboy

Please note that visas for entry into Libya are now being issued directly from the Embassies. No letter of invitation needed.Ìý There is however a restriction - the visa only allows 15 days stay in the country.

Medavia are running a service directly from Malta to Djerba at this time - frequency of flights depends on filling aircraft. Flights planned to leave Malta at 0800 giving plenty of time to reach Tripoli by early afternoon. Check points after the border are numerous but apparantly friendly. Personnel from ** left Djerba yesterday morning at 0700, border was quiet and they reached Tripoli by 1330.

Will keep you updated.

thx officeboy for update and i had already residence and it will expire end of December but i am Egyptian it mean i need visa to Tunisia ???
is it safe from degerba to tripoli an what kind of transportation by by bus or by boat ???

thx for your kind help

officeboy

Hilton,
You need to check with your Embassy, I cant advise on Egyptian / Tunisian visa's.
If you have a Resi permit, you are able to cross from the Egyptian side and drive to Benghazi, no need to go through Tunisia.

It seems things have changed and you now apply directly to the local embassy for a visa and it is issued there - there is however a possibility that the visa issued by the embassy needs to be reissued at the border - the other persons travelling with Tim - 18 of them - are getting their visaÂ’s from here but have been advised to have at least 100 lyd for the border - this it what it cost a friend - official receipts etc are provided once payment and visa is stamped in passport.

Latest Update:

I am advised that Tripoli Airport will be undergoing a full inspection and review tomorrow and that Air Malta are preparing to start operations as soon as:

clearance is given as to the operational capability of the air terminal, runways and air traffic control systems
clearance is obtained from Nato
clearance is obtained from the Maltese government to re start operations

Initially there will be:

2 daily flights to  tripoli
1 daily flight to Benghazi.

I will keep you in the picture as more info comes to hand.
