Hello Everyone,

I have a couple or more questions.  I have a cyst on my back that refuses to heal,  My dermatologist in the states said I should seek a surgeon and have minor surgery - Any Recommendations'?  Also, a related question, I think I will sign up for the private insurance.  Will the private insurance help reduce the cost this an most expenses of routine medical care.

Need an good Las Terrenas based Urologist.

Dentist, need an implant that I refused to have in the states.

Optometrist - need new, updated glasses.

{lease note that I'm really not falling apart.  It would seem so based on what was written above.  I want to dispel all rumors.)   Seriously, and suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and to LT! We've been here four years now.

For most specialists, you will have to travel to Santiago or Santo Domingo. However, you might be able to find one who is in LT one or two days a week.

Dermatologist: Dra. Lourdes Reinoso—Polanco Clinic. I believe she's here on Tuesday or Wednesday each week. Call 829-986-1192 for appointments. I don't believe the receptionist speaks English. We use WhatsApp and Translator for making appointments.

Dental Implants - We go to OdontoHealth and see Dra. Alfie Garcia. 809-995-0885 for appointments. There is also a place next to Banco Ademi (near Guzman Ariza) that has Implant in the name. We've only had cleanings and a few broken fillings replaced.

I've not heard of a urologist here in town

Also new to LT, any recommendations for a General Practitioner ?

I second the welcomes!

Insurance will not cover a pre existing condition. It will cover most of the other things including regular checkups.  If the plan includes dental there is a 6 month wait for major coverage ( like an implant) and will cover from 25 to 90% depending on the plan.

I highly recommend . They were in Paseo before the fire, and will be moving back there as soon as their office has been rebuilt - that was supposed to be February, but nothing ever happens on time here! They are temporarily located in the Sireny Lab building towards the top of town.

We really appreciate the doctors' holistic and functional medicine approach. Both speak fluent English.

They do have two sets of prices - one for tourists (anyone here on a tourist card) and a much more reasonable price list for legal residents and citizens. Just show your cedula to get the better rates! They accept most travel insurance but do not accept local insurance. We pay for our visits and then file with Humano for reimbursement.
