Women of Dumeguete

I have a couple of questions, I lived in Dumaguete in 2016 for a couple of months and didn't care for the place, I liked the mall and boardwalk, it seems more improved now and I will visit the city soon, how are the Hospitals now. and is the city cleaner now. I am 70 years old and divorced since 2012 and have been happy by myself not even dating since 2016. I am interested in companionship with an older woman where the children are on their own who can visit anytime, I just need some privacy. I tried finding women from 55+ but only get introduced to younger women by friends. I live in Anda Beach, Bohol. It is very expensive here and hard to rent an apt or houses, just day to day or 1 month and I wish to settle down and I need to be close to a hospital and Cebu city is too crowded for me.

Take a look into Davao City. A lot of expats, good infrastructure and still affordable.

I liked my stay in Davao.  Clean and safe. It took a while to find resources, but eventually ran into expats who were a great group.

Well brother first there are are a lot of 50 plus single women in the Philippines    ive been with the same crazy ass woman 8 years and love the hell out of her  Dumaguete has some of the best doctors nurses and engineers that graduated from Siliman but they move on  my lady is VP of large global company in Makati  Her cousin is the youngest cardiologist in the Philippines And resides in cebu city St lukes owed by st vincents of america in Bonafacia and part of Mayo clinic  they saved  my life  . I live near Duma, in Dauin. There are a lot of new places in the city now. More food choices, new mall, bigger boardwalk, etc.

It's not any cleaner however.

Look for a place around Sibulan if you need to be real close to hospitals, or if you can be within 30 minutes away just look at Bacong, Dauin, or even Zamboanguita. Much quieter and laid back. Plus nice beaches. And great food options.

There are lots of pretty ladies around also. Some of the older ones are quite beautiful too.

@"Davao City? That's terrible advice. The city is massive and sprawling, and the traffic is horrendous. While there are some expats, they're scattered all over the place, and there's a real lack of central meeting points, pubs, or bars for them to gather.Of course, you often come across groups of expats hanging out in shopping malls. But whether he wants to get to know people like that is questionable.   For me, it's a really stressful city life, a far cry from enjoying retirement. Sure, you could meet a woman there, but that's not exactly difficult anywhere in the Philippines. And the claim that Davao is inexpensive doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps you could find a cheaper place to rent compared to Dumaguete, given its size, but other than that?

You are correct Swiss rider. Its like LA but smaller and without the infrastructure.

I'm somewhat surprised that the mid sized (not too small or big) city of Iloilo has not been mentioned. Centrally located in the Visayas. The Mayor has transformed the city. Decent infrastucture, hospitals & several modern Malls with a relatively ordered traffic system & some excellent esplanades for walking and cycling. Oh and its Typhoon free.

I am currently in Dumaguete just finished our second brown out of the morning and of course our water is not running.  We are staying in the largest condo complex in city.  Duma is not clean and is very congested.  Having said that it's not a bad place but there are issues.  Finding suitable housing is next to impossible.  I did find a condo in Dauin gorgeous place but 75K per month.  Slow wifi and not allowed to upgrade so we passed.  Most places I look at in the 50K range are not suitable for pick a reason.  We did not look at apartments but did not see any but I know there are some.  If you have acceptable housing this is a good place.  Valencia is cooler and nice people.  Expats here are many and friendly,   We are retuning to Makati to re-group with Tagaytay on our list.  Dauin is a beach community great for diving.  There isn't much to Dauin and food and restaurant options are very limited.  If you want to buy groceries 30-40 minutes to Robinson's mall.  Many bloggers (Fly me to the Philippines, Paul old dog new tricks, Mikesphilippine retirement ). They all suggest looking around and then deciding.  Those bloggers all live in Duma so ??  We might return but our search continues.

@Lotus Eater I've watched a few videos about Iloilo and I have to say, you're absolutely right. It's odd that this city isn't more popular among travelers or expats. I'm surprised I haven't visited yet, considering how much I know about the Philippines. Well, I'm definitely adding it to my travel list now. Who knows, maybe I'll even decide to live there one day!
